Dear Police Scotland,
Before I start, I would just like to congratulate you on a good job of amalgamating all of the regional police forces of Scotland into one unified force. You seem to of accomplished this with minimal wastage and expenditure.
So a sincere congrats from me.
Now, on to my point.
I know you are watching this website, as this is the only place i ever talk about my hobby. So anytime my activity increases on this website you feel the need, nay, compulsion to send your poorly maintained, a frankly down right dangerous helicopter(s) to fly at a ridiculously low level and hover over my property. I understand you would like to scan my home with your cameras, hence the 10-15 minute hover session above my house, again and again and again.
But the issue isn't your invasion of my privacy. No no no, The issue is that you hover so low i can actually see the crew(two front passengers) lite up by the cockpits display lights,! (This is at night.yes i have 20/13 vision but still)
Now before you say, how do you know its our helicopter? Etc. I can ID the blue and yellow colour, even at night, and know from my interest in aviation that my property is just on the edge of a flight path, but these aircraft are at well over 2000ft before making the final into the local international airport. And none of them hover at roughly 100ft above my house! Also i can id the eurocopter you use a mile off.
I have also been fortunate enough to spend many hours in many different helicopters during my service to HM government. And find the noise they make very distinct from other aircraft. This gives me the advantage in that i hearing you coming and get to watch from my window. (So if you flew higher, I would have no idea..).
Now I bring up the fact that one of your helicopters ditched on a pub the other month, dec 2013,(Sorry to all involved) , only as maybe they too were hovering too low, hence no time to try aim for a field or park, or send out a mayday, just hits the ground. Or pub in this case.
I havnt read the report as i dont think it has been made available to the public yet, as the peoples involved are suing eurocopter, so shouldn't really comment, but have,
You also grounded your fleet as you found a crack in something, post crash, I cant remember the details, but i hope this has been fixed as you fleet is clearly flying again.
so yes, as i ask, please , fly a bit hirer, more than to stop invading my privacy.
For the record I would like it to be somewhere that I'm not a drug dealer. Im not a criminal mastermind,or criminal even,, i pay my bills and taxes, i don't like to speed on the roads. I keep myself to myself and when i do interact with others im always polite and treat other with respect.
I understand entirely if you do not respond to this open letter. Its just i know it will be seen by you,
all the best for your future success as the combined police force of Scotland.
Sincerely ,
Bunnyface.
