Dear Police Scotland,

Before I start, I would just like to congratulate you on a good job of amalgamating all of the regional police forces of Scotland into one unified force. You seem to of accomplished this with minimal wastage and expenditure.
So a sincere congrats from me.
Now, on to my point.
I know you are watching this website, as this is the only place i ever talk about my hobby. So anytime my activity increases on this website you feel the need, nay, compulsion to send your poorly maintained, a frankly down right dangerous helicopter(s) to fly at a ridiculously low level and hover over my property. I understand you would like to scan my home with your cameras, hence the 10-15 minute hover session above my house, again and again and again.
But the issue isn't your invasion of my privacy. No no no, The issue is that you hover so low i can actually see the crew(two front passengers) lite up by the cockpits display lights,! (This is at night.yes i have 20/13 vision but still)
Now before you say, how do you know its our helicopter? Etc. I can ID the blue and yellow colour, even at night, and know from my interest in aviation that my property is just on the edge of a flight path, but these aircraft are at well over 2000ft before making the final into the local international airport. And none of them hover at roughly 100ft above my house! Also i can id the eurocopter you use a mile off.
I have also been fortunate enough to spend many hours in many different helicopters during my service to HM government. And find the noise they make very distinct from other aircraft. This gives me the advantage in that i hearing you coming and get to watch from my window. (So if you flew higher, I would have no idea..).
Now I bring up the fact that one of your helicopters ditched on a pub the other month, dec 2013,(Sorry to all involved) , only as maybe they too were hovering too low, hence no time to try aim for a field or park, or send out a mayday, just hits the ground. Or pub in this case.
I havnt read the report as i dont think it has been made available to the public yet, as the peoples involved are suing eurocopter, so shouldn't really comment, but have,
You also grounded your fleet as you found a crack in something, post crash, I cant remember the details, but i hope this has been fixed as you fleet is clearly flying again.

so yes, as i ask, please , fly a bit hirer, more than to stop invading my privacy.

For the record I would like it to be somewhere that I'm not a drug dealer. Im not a criminal mastermind,or criminal even,, i pay my bills and taxes, i don't like to speed on the roads. I keep myself to myself and when i do interact with others im always polite and treat other with respect.

I understand entirely if you do not respond to this open letter. Its just i know it will be seen by you,

all the best for your future success as the combined police force of Scotland.

Sincerely ,

Bunnyface.

just be prepared.

i had 3 undercover show up on my doorstep 24 hours after i visited hydro based upon a "tip"..they tried every which way to intimidate me (i'm a girl) to get into my home..first by just "asking to come in and discuss a situation" of course, i wouldn't let them in..but was asked 4 times to "come in" before they told me what they wanted..if i would have said "yes" they would have been all over my house..their goal was to search without a warrant and they would have gotten away with it if only i would have said "yes"..luckily, i stood my ground..one guy was even trying to look over my head and around me to see if he can see any paraphernalia in my home!..after 15 minutes, i told them to have a nice day, i have work to do and went back into my home.

just be prepared.

The vast majorities of police forces in the UK, hire their choppers from local service companies, should you have a beef with these companies, just note the aircraft reg, and complain to the CAA, no helicopter is permitted to fly under 500ft, QFE(altitude of the land) unless taking off or landing, or in choppers case 'aerial work' which may or may not include reconnaissance work, post in you tube, then complain to the papers

So police choppers can fly below 500ft regardless of how many complaints they get as they could just use recon as their excuse so what's the point in complaining about it?

They fly well below 500ft where I am pretty much all day long.

In Bristol the local energy supplier (Western Electric) send up a helicopter to thermally scan the homes of people who have high energy use.
If heat sources are located the local police are informed.

I am from the other end of England but watched a news report about this.
It was a YOUTUBE vid that was being used as a scaremongering tactic to help sell 'heat free' LED lamps.
Here is a link to it:

You buy there electric,
You pa your bills
and they use your information to justify spying on you
then sending around the stormtroopers>

If it was 1942 these bastards would be searching out Jews hiding in attics and lofts.
Profiteering police informers....

Yeah i thought the CAA would be my next stop. But then thought its was more a NATS issue.
But as you said its eurocopter who run the fleet im sure, so maybe them. Anyway im waiting for the next fly by soon. Even when its passing, it flys below 200ft im sure. All other helicopters i see are high up. Its like there camera dosn't have a zoom function.
Great advice though. Thanks.

And north of England, i though it could be something similar but its the same one each time. I will note its tail number or id next time. Hell even a video,
and like you say i pay my high bill price and they use that to have a look. There isnt even more than a 400watter going so I'm not too worried.
And if i do get raided I have the attack rabbit to defend my property. Like the rabbit in the holy grail.

Anyhow, Take it easy.

So, let me get this straight, you are saying whenever you log onto rollitup, a helicopter shows up and starts making low flying passes over your house? They spend hundreds of dollars in manpower and helicopter fees (gas, etc) to do a fly-over because you posted on a grow site?

Jeez, simple solution. As soon as they fly off, log back in, do it over and over and over until they go broke....

Haha , im even scared to use my rangefinding binos on it incase all the alarms go off in side the cockpit.

I know when we lived on the farm the game keeper got cautioned by the RAF for using his range finders on a tornado jet,(thats how long ago that was.) it was funny to see a jet in a pair zooming along the valley and then the back one peels off up into the sky doing what looked like evasive manoeuvres. Next day we had the RAF looking around the farm for SAM sites. Lol.

I have my phone charged and ready for when they come back.

good luck mate Im Scotland too, not really aware of much police interest here, but then, they say it costs £10,000 just to launch a helicopter, so unless you are running an industrial sized grow I don't think they are really that interested.
