The Main-Lining Thread

Thanks guys! To be honest, I got it from a friends caregiver. I know it's a strain from Barney's farm, so that's about all I have to go off of. I would love for it to be a Kush.
Right now I've got her in FFOF 4:1 with perlite. Feeding with the FF line of nutes.
Ive actually been reading a lot into compost teas and want to be able to supplement only that during flowering.
You all have any experience with the teas?

Yes - they work! Compost by itself is great too. I planted a little Mulanje girl in a compost pile and she was the best plant I ever grew!

What was your compost pile made of? It looks like dry dirt, did it dry out quickly since it was pure compost? Or did it hold water well?

I have very hard clay soil. It is like cement. I dig a hole and put a plant in and it dies of root rot because the water does not drain away.

2 years ago I grew a plant in a trashcan on this spot and I am sure the Flora Nova Bloom runoff soaked in the ground. Over winter and through till summer I built a big pile over the spot. I put everything I could think of in the pile. When I was getting ready to plant I turned the soil and gave it a good soaking. It was full of grubs and ants and all kinds of life. The best part was that the water just soaked right in!

I did supplement it once when buds started forming. It looked like it had less buds than its sister grown in a pot full of Super Soil. I figured it was lacking in some bud food so I gave it a hit of Mad Farmers MOAB mixed with water in a 5 gallon bucket. That was the only thing I gave her. I also didn't water her much. Once her roots got down deep in the soil there was plenty of water.

To this day her leaves have no sign of tip burn. She might even be starting to reveg!

Awesome! Also, how do you keep your clones from flowering when you place them outside?

I place them back inside before the sun stops shining on them (usually) :P

Do this with seedlings too:

It got harder when they were all in one gallon pots:

I pushed myself too hard last season. Although I did find what I was looking for - some good phenos :)

Scott's OG and Jesus OG:

Did you see my pile for this year?

Your pile looks great! So the grubs didn't bother your plant? Do you keep the plants on 24hr light cycle between the indoor and outdoor time? What size did you wait until you initiated flowering? Also, how early can we start outdoors here in So Cal?

Looking good Mo, have been without laptop for almost a month.
Started my new grow,

2 Nirvana Ice from seed, and 1 Amsterdam Seed Co. WW, in 3.5 gallon Hempy Buckets.
I have those mainlining and some clones from them, 1 WW and 1 Ice in 2 gallon Hempy buckets. Also have two Ice in 1 gallon smart pot with Ocean Forest soil. and 1 Ice in a starter Hempy cup. Transplant soon.

Not sure how many I will keep, would like to keep the 2 gallon Hempy buckets as mother plants that I will keep pruned and put them out side when every I can. May do the same to the smart pots not sure as of yet.

Some bad new, going to have a new back door neighbor, my cool neighbors living there now have sold the house and move out of state. They sold the house to a state trooper and his wife. Now that really sucks.

Ok for some pictures.

20140120_122647.jpgThree clones in 2 gallon Hempys, the one in the top left, Ice 2, did not make it. I think I damaged the roots during transplant. 1/20/14

WW 1-28-14.jpgWW cut to 14, lost a branch earlier. but looking good. 1/28/14

We are now in the grow stage everything has final cut, now just keep them trimmed up, put the ring on tommorow and give them a few weeks growth before flip.
I have two Ice in soil in 1 gallon smart pots, not sure what I will do with those, I may just stick them outside and let them do there thing there.
That would give me room in the cabinet to either veg the two 2 gallon Hempys till I put the 3.5 gallon Hempys into 12/12, them move them either under the T5 lamp or put them outside and use them for clones. I may just leave them in the cabinet and let them flower, not sure about enough room in there though.

Well more later.

Peace out, '

No way! A state trooper! That is going to be an issue (unless he smokes).

Everything looks amazing - thanks for the pics!

Somebody asked about the grubs - they seemed to die from getting watered but they did pose one problem. Something at night would dig them up for dinner.

After the first day I planted the Mulanje in the pile I went out to the garden to see how she was doing and she was gone! When I got closer I saw that the little plant was off to the side and there was a fresh hole where it had been planted. I replanted it and covered it with a cage cube.

When it got too big for the cube I took it off thinking that it was OK. The next day there was a big hole next to the trunk. One of the mains was all wilted from root damage. I filled the hole and put a fence around her and she recovered and thrived.

Mo

I wonder what was digging it up, your plant was beautiful though, I am now a believer in compost growing. Did you have earwigs in your pile? I had a problem with them eating my seedlings last year. I read that they also eat tender growth on larger plants. I am impressed with how healthy your plant was in the raw compost. I was reading that it is best to pasteurize compost/recycled soil to kill pests.

I would like to ask if anyone else does this, the stoppered holes at the base of the bucktes, I really like this.
When I water/feed I first open the stopper and drain any fluids remaining at the base of the buckets, I leave it open for some time while I prepare the next solution. I reinsert the stopper refill and let the drainage from the 1/2 inch hole reach 30% or so, If I am just watering then I reinsert the stopper and fill until the water begins to exit the 1/2 inch hole, I let it sit for a bit then open the stopper and let it drain completely. I again leave it open for a bit then closing the system I fill the bucket to 30% drainage and am good to go. It works well for me.

Peace out,

GR

GR. How do you like those WW? are those White widow im assuming or Wonder Woman? I gotta try and find a super DANKY smelling strain man.. I have done 3 runs of Fruity Chronic Juice, and they are beautiful buds but just DONT have the stanky danky smell and taste. The taste is almost tasteless really. I know drying and curing are in large what needs to be done correctly to get the right smell and taste, but i guess im wondering from you and the others what strain is your favorite for great smell and taste? I'm honestly ready to just take those two over the looks these days haha :)
