If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for being in the country illegally ...
Then you might live in a country run by idiots.
Yes, yes you ca be arrested for being here illegally. The administration just directed that immigration be focused on dangerous illegals over people that aren't causing trouble.

If you have to get your parents’ permission to go on a field trip or take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion ...
Then you might live in a country run by idiots.Schools don't provide abortions. Apples to oranges.

If you have to show identification to board an airplane, cash a check, buy liquor, or check out a library book, but you don't have to show ID for the right to vote on who runs the government ...
Then you might live in a country run by idiots.I don't know about state, but you need I.D. to vote in federal elections.

If the government wants to ban stable, law-abiding citizens from owning gun magazines with more than ten rounds, but gives 20 F-16 fighter jets to the crazy new leaders in Egypt ...
Then you might live in a country run by idiots.I don't disagree with this one, in that mag size restrictions aren't going to do much. I don't recall us sending more jets since the military coup. I seem to recall them withholding future deliveries until things had settled down.

If, in the largest city of the country (NY), you can buy two 16-ounce sodas, but not a 24-ounce soda because the government says a 24-ounce sugary drink might make you fat ...
Then you might live in a country run by idiots.A little late on this one, it got overturned. Also, this was at a city level; how does a city-wide law translate to the federal gov being run by idiots?

If an 80-year-old woman can be stripped searched by the TSA but a woman in a hi-jab is only subject to having her neck and head searched because of her religion ...
Then you might live in a country run by idiots. This is just entirely untrue. There are no religious exemptions through the TSA.

If your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more ...
Then you might live in a country run by idiots. This is not untrue on it's face, but it makes it seem like this problem is simple.

If a seven year old boy can be thrown out of school for saying his teacher’s "cute," but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class in grade school is perfectly acceptable ...
Then you might live in a country run by idiots. That boy was a result of overreacting school administration, not federal government. I'll need a citation for the second one because I can't find anything like this describes.

If hard work and success is rewarded with higher taxes and more government intrusion, while not working is rewarded with EBT cards, WIC checks, Medicaid, subsidized housing, and free cell phones ...
Then you might live in a country run by idiots.Once again oversimplifying a complex thing; while also maintaining the "all people on gov. assistance are lazy" standard.

If the government's plan for getting people back to work is to reward them with 99 weeks of unemployment checks with no requirement to prove they applied for it ...
Then you might live in a country run by idiots.
Oh hey, another over-simplification of a complex subject that robs it of all context.

If being stripped of the ability to defend yourself makes you more "safe" according to the government ...
Then you might live in a country run by idiots. This is the only one that is moderately valid.

If you are offended by this article, then I'll bet you voted for the idiots who are running and "ruining" our great country!

By Junius P. Long
So this is about 65% bullshit, 34% context-less oversimplifications, and 1% valid complaint. Hell, most of them don't even involve the actual people running the country.

Sanctuary is a term for cities, counties, or states that are defying a federal law relative to the various government agencies being required to assist the federal government with their illegal immigrants. San Francisco is well known for being a sanctuary city, they are also well know for being one of the most liberal cities in the US.

So, you got that one wrong.
So.... you don't REALLY believe that local governments know better than the Federal Government?

By your own admission, 20 states do not require an ID to vote.
You are not very good at this.
texas recently had its voter ID law blocked because it disenfranchised minorities disproportionately:

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/31/us/court-blocks-tough-voter-id-law-in-texas.html?_r=0

[h=1]Court Blocks Texas Voter ID Law, Citing Racial Impact[/h]

perhaps if you idiots made an actual voter ID law rather than a 'disenfranchise minorities' law, we would get all the way there.

and in case you can't read properly, the author of this chain email made a "for all" claim, which is contradicted (there's that word you don't understand again) by a single counterexample.

i have 30 counterexamples with more pending, which is way better than one.

you are one very stupid person.

That's not the argument here, Uncle Ben made some valid points that none of you can refute.
Maybe you disagree with them, but the fact remains, they are rather contradicting in nature.

It seems that "the government", that, to the right at least, monolithic entity that is our only real enemy, may "want" to limit magazine capacity but in fact.... It is "the people" in the majority who wish for such a thing, not just the liberal people. This bumper sticker statement is even more misleading than the rest.

Egypt is a strategic partner with whom we have a long history of close political-military relations that have benefited U.S. interest,” said the letter, which was authored by assistant secretary for legislative affairs David Adams. “For the past 30 years the F-16 aircraft has been a key component of the relationship between the United States military and the Egyptian Armed Forces.”“Maintaining this relationship and assisting with the professionalization and the building of the Egyptian Armed Forces’ capabilities to secure its borders is one of our key interests in the region,” Adams wrote.
“Egypt continues to play an important role in the regional peace and stability,” according to the letter. “In all of our engagements with President Morsi and his staff, they have reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to its international agreements, including its peace treaty with Israel.”
“Egypt was instrumental in negotiating the Gaza ceasefire, and continues to work with the parties involved to implement it and secure a more lasting peace,” the letter states

Again, no contradiction in evidence here.

but it's a sanctuary city, so why were they deporting illegal immigrants?

gosh, you are one stupid lady.
The point Uncle Ben was making, and very well I might add, is, if it was left up to democrats, they would arrest a US citizen for not having a hunting license but would turn their heads at illegal aliens. And, if left to the democrats, illegal aliens would get amnesty. Do you think they would give amnesty to the hunters?

I AM answering the statements, and I believe we are talking about ... er ... contradictions. Seems to me that you are going to have to address a few of your own - IS local government of more ideological value than the Federal government? If so, you may take issue with their actions but not their inherent right to act. Or are only SOME local governments and SOME local actions acceptable?

i live in uber-liberal oregon. hunting without a license here is a mere fine. no arrest.

down in san fran, which you pointed out was fiercely liberal, they arrest and deport illegal immigrants.

do you really want to go on making a(n even bigger) dumbass out of yourself like this?

i would just quit if i were you.

Again, this is a local action by a local government. Not a Federal ban, nor is it a ban on the purchase of soda. While it may or may not be a silly idea, there again is no contradiction in this statement. The Pentagon has expressed its concern over the future fitness of the pool of young people from whom it draws its members. While this experiment has not been in effect long enough to show if it is of any help, it does no harm. I wonder, do you object to only limited amounts of certain cold medications being sold at the same time as well?

Who cares who wrote it, 90% of the crap on this board is from outside sources.
I also laugh at some of the stupid stuff republicans do and say, but some of you folks just blindly take sides and hunker down.
You are just being dishonest with yourself.
