Burglar's relative says: "He could have used a warning shot first..."

From WTTC News in Dallas, we get this heartwarming tale of a long-time criminal, 33 year old Deyfon Pipkin, who tried to climb in a window of a Texas home.

The elderly owner occupant saw him and fired one shot, ending Deyfon’s criminal career.

As the police do, they came by to investigate, gathered the corpse, then went to notify Deyfon's family of his unfortunate demise. It seems that the family was very upset, because they showed up at the scene.

"He could have used a warning," Lakesha Thompson, Pipkin's sister-in-law, complained. "He could have let him know that he did have a gun on his property and he would use it in self-defense."

COMMENT FROM THE SIDELINE:

"That's certainly true, Lakesha. He could also have invited him in and given him a beer, then helped him cart the TV out to the curb".

Unfortunately for Deyfon, Texas is a Castle Doctrine state, and the homeowner chose to shoot Deyfon, as is right and proper to do in Texas. :finger:

"For that matter, Lakesha, you could have warned Deyfon. Why didn't YOU tell him: 'Deyfon, yo' needs to quit breakin' into dose peoples' houses and Stealin dey shit. Someone is goins to pop a cap in yo' ass.'"

God must love stupid people; He made so many.

Don't you just love it when things work out right?

Those damn uppity burglars, expecting to be treated like everyone else even when they don't act like it.

Ahh well, even in the body we reject foreign bodies.

Someone should throw a burning lower case t on their lawn to symbolise "Tough shit" and show them that burglars arnt welcome.

I bet that burglar thug had a weapon even tho it's unreported.

Thank God there's one less burglar in the world.

I have a machete which I will rub in the litterbox before I chop on the intruder. That way, he'll get a really bad infection if he gets away.
If I manage to kill them, I WILL take any valuables I find on their person before I call the cops.
You must watch the discovery channel, sounds like the natives in South America dipping their arrows and darts in those crushed up poison frogs.

Yesterday....
I see a car pull up front...
I ask GF and her Daughter if they are expecting anyone...
[whom were sitting with me at table....]
I had view of street...
"No... not expecting anyone, it's a lady..."
30 seconds later....
Screen door opens...
Person standing at door...
"Babe, someones at door"
She walks over as lady opens my front door...
Her hand was inside my house...
If this was Texas... OMG....
It would have been one less stupid person...
Who was she... what she want... I don't have a clue...
House direct behind us is for rent... Maybe she was a street off or??????

Yeah cos thats the exact same as some big (potentially javelin weilding) burglar climbing in your window at night.

Was the homeowner Antoine Dodson from "Bedroom Invader" fame?

"Hes climbin in your window, snatchin yo people up"

Lol @ "warning shot". If you pull the trigger, it is because you are trying to incapacitate someone and end the threat. Period.

And a warning shot may just send him away for that day, only to pull the same chit on someone else, another day.

I'd say it was suicide by Texan...either he's got really big balls or a really small brain. I can't believe someone would be dumb enough to think a Texan would fire a warning shot...should have picked another state for your apprenticeship fool!

Mormons? Jehovah's witnesses ? Insurance? Selling magazines for school or asking for signatures to save the whales?
Find out first, have something handy, but at least talk to them first.
Ive lived places where former friends stop by to talk to the former renter or owner.

Chill out a little

i've locked myself out before and had to crawl in through a window, thank goodness it wasn't in texas.

here, it needs to be shown that someone is actually a threat to your life before using deadly force, not just a threat to your 14 year old black and white magnavox.

but we all know what this thread is about and who uncleben is happy to see dead, and it ain't a potential burglar.

In California the castle doctrine applies:

California§ Penal Code 198.5"Any person using force intended or likely to cause death or great bodily injury within his or her residence shall be presumed to have held a reasonable fear of imminent peril of death or great bodily injury to self, family, or a member of the household when that force is used against another person, not a member of the family or household, who unlawfully and forcibly enters or has unlawfully and forcibly entered the residence and the person using the force knew or had reason to believe that an unlawful and forcible entry occurred."

In Texas, or anywhere else, crawling in through the window of your own home is pretty safe.

but we all know what the post by an unnamed propagandist is about and it IS about making self defense illegal and protecting the predators among us.

She looked confused...
We were sitting at a table 10 feet from front door...
Two cops live two doors down...
I don't usually lock my doors...
I feel pretty safe....
If I would have been up at the door, when she reached her hand/arm into the house, I would have slammed in in the door...
Luckily I was chill...
----
When she walked back out down stairs, she walked around to drive way, and looked down the drive...
She looked harmless... however...
WTF

How the unattributed article quotes the sister-in-law: "He could have used a warning," "He could have let him know that he did have a gun on his property and he would use it in self-defense."

How Ben portrays the sister-in-law: 'Deyfon, yo' needs to quit breakin' into dose peoples' houses and Stealin dey shit. Someone is goins to pop a cap in yo' ass.'

Keep it classy dude.
