It is as simple as going to your ballot box. There are no petitions to sign or dirty politicians to grease. It doesn't even matter who you vote into what office or what policy you vote for or against, but before you drop that ballot in the box, put a nice BIG GREEN "W" on the front of it for those counting the votes to see. When they see enough of them and start wondering just WTF is going on, I'm sure the press will do their job and figure it out!

A big green W makes perfect sense to me. It doesn't have to be anything complicated, just something that gets their attention. Once we have their attention, and they realize that we do have the power to band together at a grassroots level to affect nationwide changes, we just might see some of those changes! If not, future candidates can run and express their allegiance to the movement and we can vote out the incumbents that are holding back progress.

as far as price dropping etc. i'm sure it'll be possible for us to start up craft/cottage businesses just the same as wine and cigars. Sure you'll be able to get an ounce of commercially produced bud from a large grower (someone akin to a budweiser or coors) and it will get the job done but will taste of piss and have no complexity. But you will also be able to shell out the same 400 bones for some superchronic from a small greenhouse or an organic farm that specializes in particular cultivars. So, it will be a matter of how much work effort and passion you want to sink into growing plants.

I think prices would drop if they would just get rid of plant counts. Limiting how much people can grow limits the supply, therefore keeping prices high. If it was like a free for all, there would be more quantity, and prices would drop. Just like in Colorado, they probably wouldn't have run out and jacked the prices up if they weren't limited on how many plants they could grow.

Right, i'm not saying that there won't be a large marketshare taken up by large corporations. I'm saying that, just as in the tobacco and alcohol industries things like craft cigars, cigarettes, rolling tobaccos, wines, liquors, craft beers etc. exist, so too is it possible for smaller scale artisanal growers to supply the inevitable demand that will exist for such high-quality products.

your point about the legality of home-brewing may be an insinuation that we haven't been free to produce and consume out own alcohol even though prohibition was overturned 80years ago; however, the fact that some states hold out on updating their legislation and others are more progressive is really all your statement proves. It also didn't prevent the craft brewing industry (and now the craft whiskey industry on its heels) to begin taking marketshare back from the large brewers, vintners and distilleries. That big tobacco--and probably big cannabis/big hemp too!--will inevitably try to wrangle the political system to its own benefit (including by lobbying for greater barriers to enter the market) is a sad fact about american politics.
As to your comment about small farms--they do exist and CSA is working in some places with dedicated communities. that they haven't overcome the enormity that is agrobusiness and industrial agriculture doesn't mean that they can't or won't ever. Farmer's markets could easily become a place to sell your harvest, with the right activism and dedication.

If I were to do this my way, I'd have marijuana treated no differently than a tomato plant, everyone can grow just however many the fuck they want!
