Trust us, it's safe to accept deposits from drug dealers and launder their money... LOL

"Nothing herein precludes investigation or prosecution, even in the absence of any one of the factors listed above, in particular circumstances where investigation and prosecution otherwise serves an important federal interest."
It's not laundering money if you are compliant with your states laws. And there isn't a jury in the world that would think otherwise with this administration's announced views.

Regardless of your gullibility, the Colorado Bankers Association thinks otherwise and the DOJ memo says otherwise. Colorado banks ain't gonna be laundering money until Congress passes a law explicitly making it legal to do business with cannabis dealers. The DOJ memo is a dead letter.

<edit> Let me expand on this a bit. The DOJ memo is a dead letter and it is not going to entice bankers to engage in conduct that is a federal felony. What the DOJ memo might accomplish, though, is to force congress to act to make it legal for bankers to deal with cannabis dealers. In that sense the DOJ memo is a good thing. The structure of the war on drugs is crumbling as we speak.

Oh well let's see what the free market says in the next few weeks.

7% that MC/Visa charges per transaction (that was my fee for using their portal) adds up to millions slipping thru the bankers fingers at the dispensary level.
At one time they may have thought they were on the moral high ground by refusing service but no more, it all comes down to profit.

The Bankers are just trying to get their cut without having to wait on the laws changing. jmo.

Its the first real step to legalization, as of right now its just a way for banks to make a few bucks and for government to have records so it can tax the shit out of a muthafucka.

(CNN) -- The U.S. government issued rules on Friday for the first time allowing banks to legally provide financial services to state-licensed marijuana businesses.
The Justice Department issued a memorandum to prosecutors that closely follows guidance last August largely limiting federal enforcement priorities to eight types of crimes.
These include distribution to children, trafficking by cartels and trafficking to states where marijuana isn't legal. If pot businesses aren't violating federal law in the eight specific priorities, then banks can do business with them and "may not" be prosecuted.
The Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) issued guidelines that Director Jennifer Shasky Calvery said was intended to signal that "it is possible to provide financial services" to state-licensed marijuana businesses and still be in compliance with federal anti-money laundering laws.

cry some more, vote republican, and then keep scratching your head as to why cannabis re-legalization doesn't move as quickly as you think it should.

but whatever you do, keep crying. it is like manna from heaven to me.

Better than nothing. Do you agree?
No...

The executive branch cannot create nor ignore laws.

It is unconstitutional and an excessive use of executive power.

Obama doesnt seem to be able to work within the constitution that he supposedly taught in college.
