Dogs are dirty and need attention EVERY SINGLE FUCKING DAY, period. Like a baby, at least 1 hour every day walking, combing and obedience trainning plus cleaning the odd shit hes decided to leave in the yard for me during the night and playing obviously. A cat you just play with it if you feel like if you dont it will play on its own, a bit of food water clean the litter box every few days and thats your house mate sorted. Not only that but i think there is no better stoning toy than a chilled cat on your lap or near you. So clean, doesnt have a dog smell, it can go on top of you.
Im more of a cat person i think but can understand why someone would prefer a dog, especially if youve not come across a nice house domesticated cat. i think the main reason why most cats become wee bastards is because people dont realize that the moment you get a cat you kinda give up your living space for a cats habitat. The cat needs certain things to thrive and be happyin a home, if he doesnt hell start acting up for sure, more so depending on the race.

I love and have both! My dogs have been very easy to train, both on hand commands but even my cat sits when I tell him.

the evidence in this thread leads me to believe my initial assertion was absolutely correct. Dogs are way cooler, better, more loving, companionable, friendly, and badass than any cat.
I have always hated cats but when i started teaching undergraduates i think it solidified my hatred: cats are walking egos. undergrads are walking, fragile, insecure egos. undergrads are like the worst version of cats.

joking aside, i prefer dogs. cats are target practice. however, i can't stand a stupid dog. my dogs work so i don't have to. 35lbs vs 2000lbs of cow, dog wins every time.

hahahah well said. i must admit, i get rankled by a stupid dog quite easily, and i blame a lot of it on the show-breeder types who focus 100% on appearance and 0% on health, intelligence, and personality. sounds a lot like some of the sloppy breeding work that goes on in our field!
