I new to this i want to start off with maybe three plants how many lights should I use what strain is the best could someone give me information on a book or site to help me from start to finish.
this makes dwc seem horrific to a newcomer or noob. im a newb myself and run bubbleponics setup and is super easy to meI'd pick an Indica to start with, maybe something with Afghani in it. Try to find something that is resistant to pests/diseases.
Here is what I learned my first grow. Keep it simple to start with. You're going to be making a lot of mistakes. I would not add to the difficulty by trying dwc or any other fancy techniquies you see here (sog, scrog, lollipopping, etc...). If you keep it simple, you'll see what makes the plant work and vice versa. You can add other nutrients and techniques as you need them and have more experience. I think you'll be surprised how well you can grow plants by keeping it to the basics.
Again, DO NOT attempt hydroponic on your first grow. Get some decent soil. You wont have to worry about PHing the water and you have a lot more room for error with the soil acting as a buffer between the nutrients and the plants. All you're going to do is overwhelm yourself with a complicated dwc set up that if you know what you're doing can maybe produce more yield, but you will most likely end up with not a lot to show for it and be frustrated.
Start with a simple nutrient such as dynagro foliage pro. It is very cheap and has everything a plant needs in 1 bottle. I have grown the plants in my journal with only foliage pro and a little bit of their bloom food mixed in the last 2-3 weeks depending on how the plant looks.
I'd get a cheap light like a apollo horticulture off of amazon. I have 1 of their 600w lights and it works very well and is extremely cheap for what you get. This is your first grow, you dont want to spend a bunch of money in case growing isn't for you.

I guarantee you if you take the time to understand the plants, you can grow really good plants with not a whole lot of investment to start with.
Books, I'd go with this 1 to get you started:

In the end its your grow and your money, but I wish someone had taken the time to tell me this when I started. Could have saved a lot of hassle and money.

I checked out your first grow thread. Your plants look ok, but you havent completed anything so I wouldn't spout off how easy it is just yet.this makes dwc seem horrific to a newcomer or noob. im a newb myself and run bubbleponics setup and is super easy to me
