are you losing your mind or just venting frustration?

I AM RUNNING A MEDICAL GARDEN FOR SOME VERY SICK PEOPLE...............
Hey Myles, as you probably know, HPS is a proven system for cash cropping and at this point LED just doesn't have the history that HPS has in the commercial sector. You might want to consider switching to LED for vegging to save some electricity instead of committing people's well being, and you're livelihood, to growing with a light you're not familiar with at the advice of people who you don't truly know. Remember there is a difference between HPS and LED growing, and while subtle, it is still there. And replacing HPS in a commercial setting is a real investment from what I've seen. Just look what Apache and Illumitex charge for 1000 watt HPS replacements. Ow. So if you do want to begin recouping your investment ASAP, you really should know as much as you can about a LED light IMO. The reason I suggest vegging with LEDs is that it's a less taxing growing process that will allow you to get used to LED growing. Plus LED panels veg very well right now. Even most of the budget ones.

I've read a little about a51 and there 2014 xgs90 model. I've also read about Lush Lighting's Lumenator. What would you guys grow with? Im going to by one or the other. Please help me decide.

area 51 all the way. 1/4 of the cost and same coverage and better quality of that of lush. If you want lush you can get it straight from the manufacturer for far less than lush price. A51 is far superior.

Not familiar with Lush but it's about $120 more than the XGS for the same size.

Good idea Fran, the XGS would be perfect to try out LED's in veg because they have 3 power levels and they look like they have plenty of blue for veg.
Has anybody from RIU bought a lush light or tried contacting them to see what kind of LED's they're using?
Looks like they're driving them around 70% and they have umole readings on their site, which are both good signs.
I'd also like to know what color mix they are using also.

let me put it this way n see what you say.

If you could setup a flower room with either leds or hps, you would choose the hps? i know they are proven but then i hear that leds are ready to produce like hps with less power and less heat. if legit, i want in.

im not gunna overcommit to leds before seeing results, just a 4x4 for a few runs and evaluate. the led marketplace is sketchier than black market gun deals.

im definitely not worried about the vegging side of things, looking to take down the sodiums without losing yield

I don't think I'm going out on a limb here and say that Lush doesn't have a very good reputation around here from their company employees/owners trying to pretend to be "average growers" and touting the pluses of their light and bad mouthing everyone else's. Lush's are basically overloaded budget panels that are heavily marketed and sold at ridiculous prices IMO. A51 on the other hand is open about their lights and try to give honest answers at all times using diodes that are "document-able". Once again a Lush Light will work, but you'll pay heavily on your monthly ebill for the privilege of using the light that so and so uses. I'd rather use the light that uses CREEs.

i keep em about 30 inches after stretch and prune lower grower growth. say about an 18 inch canopy of foliage and budsites.

Let's put it this way, if I was not in hiding and I did not live in a part of the world with some of the most usurious delivery fees for electricity, (mafioso Bastardos!), I would flower with HPS/CMH with maybe some LED thrown in. I have to keep electricity down and can't dump heat so that is why I grow with LED, (plus I dig the tech), and have been maintaining a business with LEDs for the most part for the last 2+ years using mostly Chinese made panels. Now that my eyes are open and I'm slowly moving to better lights, you really see the savings in that usage goes down while yield stays the same, or in the case of my Blue Cheese, increases slightly. And buying panels is like the old wild west, that's for sure.

im definitely not worried about the vegging side of things, looking to take down the sodiums without losing yield
I would say watch Greengene's/Tag's HPS/LED grow off, (if you're not already), to see what a modern high powered LED, (600 watts of draw I believe), can do against that 1000 watt HPS standard.

I hate to sound like a broken record but if you want something bullet proof to try on a 4x4 area I would go with Area 51.
The new model comes out the beginning of the month and for a 4x4 I would get 2 RW-150's or 4 RW-75's if you want more canopy adjustment. You may need to add a little side lighting depending on how tight the plants are spaced in a 4x4 or go with five of the RW-75's.
There are a ton of grows here in the LED section with last years model the SGS-160, the RW is very close to the same but with a little more red in flower mode and a little more blue in veg mode.
With their quality, warranty and price they're hard to beat, being USA based helps too if something minor goes wrong and your mechanically incline Jeff can ship you replacement parts so you can fix it your self without having to ship the whole unit for repair, you wont have to ship it to china like a lot of the budget panels. He even offers replacement or upgrade parts at a wholesale price, check out warranty info on the site.

i like the sound of 4 rw-75s better than 2 150s for sure.

300 watts for 4x4 will be enough to match yield or come close?

I AM RUNNING A MEDICAL GARDEN FOR SOME VERY SICK PEOPLE AND SIMPLY WANT TO CONVERT A SECTION (4X4) TO LED TO DIP MY TOE IN THE NEW POND. if i can cut the cooling needs and overall power consumption then cost for my patients will go down quite a bit. seems like an endeavor worth venturing into.

i have seen so many led companies, branding, units and im losing my mind. im not interested in learning so much about leds that i can sit there and outsmart the companies making em. i have completely avoided LEDs for years and probably saved myself a ton of frustration n disappointment. if i cant get solid guidance making sure that wont happen now, im just gunna stay with my HIDs.

QUIT HUMPING AIR!!! hahaha

that is all kiss-ass

I don't know what you're talking bout as these are the same ones that the link u inquired bout. I was trying to save u money because these are the same panels and commented on the 24hr. ambient light option similar to the ambient home decorations which would be useless since the plants should be in total darkness anyway. I never meant to take your inquiry lightly. In all honesty, there's no point in fixing something that's not broken. Stay with the HIDs. LEDS are still experimental.

In closing before I head back into the peaceful trees, I never meant to offend anyone including my debunkers. Respect is given until thread upon. A rude remark will trigger a rude response. Again I apologize everyone for the inconvenience as my objective here is to disclose the nature of the beast of this business is done. I wish everyone the very best in life and led experience. "caveat emptor" by all means.

Are we going to get names or are you going to try and be as ambiguous as possible? ...
No I am not giving names as this could violate forum rules. All I am going to state is if you look closely the information is there. I am not trying to be offensive but you seem to be a person where I would have to rip your heart out of your chest and show it to you before you keeled over to believe that you even had one. Like I stated I am finished responding to such nonsense. You have your opinion and have a right to that opinion. My concern is to share my experience to those who are considering LED as an alternative to having a mini- sun in their house with all of the additional cost of keeping it cool. You can't beat the sun when it comes to cost. I have done all three and I still use good old CFL's as part of my lighting... My concern is to provide quality medication to my patient that is it. If it weren't for the "rippers" I would be outdoors utilizing the best light source there is the Sun.

Well said MC... The best decisions are always based on the best information. I have asked several major manufacturers to send me a panel to test I always get the same response we will sell you one... As far as I know CLW is the only manufacturer who have a program where you purchase their light at a reduced cost do a journal and if you are not satisfied send it back for a refund. Happy Growing!!!
