Working in a trap house is not slavery....your right people love to take advantage of people but again that is not slavery . Slavery is when you are held somewhere and forced to do something you did not sign up for against your will ..nice attempt at being smart tho!
Just because we don't recognize it, does not mean it's not slavery.
We abolished the slave trade, but there was never a witch hunt for slavers. It's still part of the culture, we just accept and explain it away.
And again, we can take your argument of "slavery is when you get taken against your will" and simply disprove that. Many slaves are taken as part of a dispute and out of honor they willingly go, and again there is the addiction issue which is an issue it's just not always what is making their money leave them. Kids are taken when they are young, I saw kids as young as 13 smoking meth in my home town (there was a group of ICP fans that were just like balls to the wall, cutting each other and getting random tattoos) and I lived in a suburb in my teens, so I am sure there are plenty of young kids that get caught up in this shit.
Then there is the point I was making with the posting from the 1700s, our police department is an evolution of slave hunters. The drug war is the modern slave trade, the illegal drugs drive prostitution, they drive trap houses, they drive arrests which drives broken families, and the fact that the government won't regulate these things in a logical manner perpetuates the need for someone else to regulate them in a brutal manner.
People get shipped across borders, people get born into welfare schemes, and everyone pretends it all ended in the 1860s. Just like everyone pretends racism ended in the 1960s and was solidified by the election of a black president. We are not done with racism either though, racists just got quiet (and get online now instead of in the streets with hoods on).
