Right I have put my extractor in, it's a bit more noise than I would have liked. The fan is OK but the air blowing through the ducting makes a bit of noise. If the neighbours went into their garden at night they could hear it. It's the same noise as a tumble dryer blowing. As the lights will not be on at night I will see if I can get away with just blowing fresh air into the room by putting a small pc in the inlet duct.

Also, a few suggestions on anything I should do before I put my plants into darkness would be nice.
Should I water them first? I was watering every 4 or 5 days but now they need it every other day. I watered them yesterday so they don't need any now but, if I am going to leave them for at least 24 hrs (probably 36).

here's a pic of the fan, there is a separate duct for air going in but you can't see it here.

Here are a couple of pictures of Charlie.

This plant is one of three that I am going to start flowering.
I don't know the sex yet so, fingers crossed on this one. I still have 5 plants that are not yet showing. Charlie (pic) is going to be a bush. It is 17" wide and only 14" tall,
I think the bottom branches will need support as soon as it starts budding.

Hi Barking, your new air duct / system looks awesome mate, you've done a good job. You must have been working hard. The fan probably isn't as loud as you think, but be careful with those neighbours. Your plant looks great too. I like them bushy like that. I wish mine weren't so damned tall LOL. If they grow much more my neighbours will be able to see the tops from their attic window :o In fact they could see them now if they stuck their head out LOL. Might get some paper sunflower flowers or something and tie them on. That will confuse them (I hope). Anyway good luck with your flowering mate, hope it goes well. Won't try to offer any advice as I know s**t all about indoor growing (or flowering ... yet).

man things are looking nice here!!! I like the flower room setup!! That inline fan should do good things for the temp in there! Have ya thought about a carbon filter for the smells you will be pumping out side? I bypassed my filter to vent my lights and it is pumping some serious stink into my back yard!! ya might want to consider it.. Your veg state is looking great!!!!! Nice healthy plants man!!! You are doing a great job!

Thanks for stopping by Hothouse.
If it starts stinking I will put a filter on but I'm hoping the fumes will dissipate before it gets to the neighbours. Although I might put one on anyway to see if I can muffle the noise of the air being vented.

Thanks crackbaby, I like the username, I think?????

1st day of flowering, I gave them 28hrs darkness to trigger them off. Hopefully that will be enough.
All 3 plants were either 16" or more.
Vegged for 39/40 days from germination.

400w HPS
Flower room temps today between 74 and 78f

Vegging area, temps beween 68 and 74f

Does anyone know what the minimum temps should be before it becomes too cold for the plant.

My temps could well drop to mid 60s during the dark cycle. Is that a safe temperature or do I need try to increase it if possible?

Any suggestions or advice would be welcome.

I have been thinking about how much I have learned from RUI in the 6 weeks since I started out.

I burnt the life out of my seedlings in their first week and almost killed the whole crop! I threw out a couple that looked really poor but decided to keep one just to see if it survived and how it tuned out.

I named it Sloof (sorry looking fucker) and those who have been here from the start will probably recall the state it was in.

(Sloof is the one top left of this picture)

Compared to the other plants at this stage, I'm sure plenty of growers would have pulled this little runt. Anyway, in the name of science I kept it going.
Slowly it grew more leaves but was still suffering from the nutes I had put in the soil. (see next pic) It was also very stretched and not planted deep enough. (good start huh).

Well it has stayed alive but has not really featured much in my updates so here are the latest two pictures of Sloof.

As you can see, Sloof is now fully recovered and it's stem (probably due to stunted growth) is now covered in new shoots.

Looking good. knowing my luck it will be a male and get thrown out!

Anyway, the main reason for this post is to say that, without the help of all those that have stopped by and added their advice and suggestions, this plant and probably many others, if not all, would have died.

So thanks to everyone for your help and advice. I still have plenty more to learn and discover and hope you all hang around to see the fruits of my labours and your advice.

Special thanks to (in no order), HotHousemary, Honkytown and OB Cron Kenobi and all the UK growers who contribute and help me to feel a part of an elite community.

Thankyou all.

Hey WHT'S UP???, Yes Your Plant's Have Made A Great Jump To Recovery!!!The Are Looking Great, Don't Jinx's Yourself, Think Possitive!!!

The Old WiseMen Say, If You Stay In A 15 degree's Drop, From Light On To Off, You Will Be Fine, My Even Create Some Color's, If It Get Colder Then That It Can Slow Growth!!!.....Best Of Luck!!!

Hi Barking, your flowering room is looking superb mate and your plants look very happy in there. You're sure to get a great harvest thanks to all your hard work. Well done  And thanks for showing the comparison pics of Sloof - that will encourage anyone who is thinking of giving up on a poor starter (or just giving up full stop) - it just goes to show what a bit of TLC and hard graft can do for our little green friends. Good job mate, she looks excellent ;)

I live in the mountains where it gets cool at night. My dark temps reach the low 60's most nights and my light temps range in the mid to upper 70's. My plants have been growing very fast at these ranges, so i do not think you will have any problems.

Like you, I overheated my seedlings (low 90's) in the first couple of weeks and growth was very slow. As soon as I got my high temps down, fast growth was immediate. IMHO you are in great shape with the dark time low temps that you mentioned.
:peace:

Thankyou Hatch I will bear that in mind. I don't think mine have really differed by more than 15 degrees since day 1 so I should be OK. Mostly the difference is about 8 degrees between night and day.

Thanks for stopping by GreenB. How are ya doing? I've had a fair bit of sunshine today but there was one hell of a downpour earlier. Been ok since though.
Having said that, I am about to walk the dogs so I'm sure to be watching the skies.
Usually when I'm a mile away from the car is when the rain starts but as Hatch told me to be positive, I'm sure it will be fine!!
