It they are honest, they will tell you they believe it is the will of Allah to have only Islam on earth. If they are honest (not so much to the infidel) they will say they cannot go against this. It is blasphemy to allow another religion to exist.

You're probably correct that it'll never be fully eradicated (there'll always be stupid people), however I'm hoping people will learn to keep their fairy stories in their brain and let society move forward in a secular, realist fashion.

Its interesting, there's an observable statistical link between intelligence and religious belief.

Less than 40% of bachelors holders in sciences believe in a personal god, and when you look to elite scientists it falls to under 9%.

But as Neil Degrees Tyson said, 9% is still too high, how can we convince the general public if that number is above 0%?

There are some weak-minded people that NEED the comfort of a magical afterlife to explain some of life's little mysteries. God's will helps people cope when shitty things happens to good people. Life can be a bitch works better for me, but for a lot of people, they can't deal with that sentiment emotionally. Love is a similar fairytale.

Everyone's a Buddha and not. Even the Buddha himself. Or else why would the Buddha dwell upon shit and meditate? The world isn't perfect, and so would eat meat when offered. Back then Buddha was more interested in spreading his world view. Others wouldn't have listened to one word if he talked about how all life is essentially the same, and eating animals is eating part of the anima mundi. But I'm not him, and don't live in his time. Nothing bad is going to happen, and I don't give a shit about others becoming enlightened, since the method is out there. Figure it out for yourself. Buddhism is more about doing, and less about being told. The fact you said your quote means you didn't get a damn thing from all your "studying." To be blunt, you only need the fundamentals and then quit this studying nonsense. You have a lot more MEDITATING to do before you can consider yourself Buddhist. Maybe Doer can help you. He's the only one here who could point you in the right direction, if that's your wish. When you say "gone for it," that pretty much means studying Buddhism was a waste for you. i think that is wrong because we should not have to be subject to someone else's beliefs (religious) regardless of whether or not our founding fathers believed in such. I do understand they would open public meetings with prayer but that ship has long sailed..why not something then from the quran or torah?

prayer should be like smoking, like anything else that others deem offensive to them..i find it very offensive to have to listen/subject to that shit.
