As Jesus, Julius Ceasar was near the time of Jesus. There is much stronger evidence that he existed than Jesus. Same with Moses, Ramesses II lived at the same time and there is much stronger evidence that he existed than Moses.

What's the strongest historical evidence that Jesus, Moses or Abraham ever existed?

I never met George Washington, all I got is a bunch of portraits and writings.....just like Jesus Christ.

And in 3000 years some might say he never existed.

A very good example is Romulus from Rome.

There was more than likely a person (possibly several) who did most or all of what is attributed to Romulus.

Years go by, legend fades to myth. And we're left with an undoubtedly true story, in spirit, that has some fiction added to his deeds.

It doesn't mean he didn't exist and found the kingdom of Rome.

Siddhartha Gautama. It's too bad he wasn't born now, his insight, which weren't society at the time, transcended any other. A far second place finish would be Amadeus Mozart.

Gaius Marius was the one who financed Gaius Julius Ceasar The Younger on his first tottering steps up the Cursus Honorum, and educated that callow youth in the nature dignitas and auctoritas.

without Gaius Marius, Gaius Julius Caesar would have been a nobody, without even an equestrian's holdings, thus in addition to his own impressive achievements, (elected Consul a record 7 times, instituted military and land reforms that preserved the republic despite the machinations of the power hungry radicals, defended rome from more enemies than any other general, declared "The Third Founder Of Rome), Gaius Marius subsumes all of Gaius Julius Caesar's accomplishments under his own paradigm.

aw snap! Historied!
Julius was never emperor either, and the title Caesar was granted to him as an honour upon his death.

Most people dont realise that.

WRONG
Caesar was his name since his birth.
his father was a Caesar, his brother was a Caesar, his grandfather was a Caesar etc etc etc

he was born to the noble but impoverished Caesar branch of the Julian Gens

he was in fact acclaimed Imperatus (the root of the word Emperor) on the field of battle, and by the senate.

he was declared Dictator For Life by the senate, which became the hereditary title of Emperor.

the title "Divus" (divine, or deified) was attached to him after his death when his cult was started.

Fuck it, imma sauce this shit so you cant get all butthurt and start making ad hominems

2. Caesar's Pedigreed Family

His father's family was from the patrician gens of the Julii.

The Julii traced its lineage to the first king of Rome, Romulus, and the goddess Venus or, instead of Romulus, to Venus' grandson Ascanius (aka Iulus or Jullus; whence Julius). One patrician branch of the Julian gens was called Caesar. [See Surnames of the Julii from UNRV.] Julius Caesar's parents were Gaius Caesar and Aurelia, daughter of Lucius Aurelius Cotta.

Right here and now the OP, for without him this thread would not be.

We all have a reason to be here, thus we are all important.

Edward the Confessor was pretty important.

Without him the Danes would have conquered England in 1065 or 66, and not the Duke of Normandy.

ENGLISH history is the most important history of Europe.

normans, saxons, danes, who gives a fuck.

"english" history is Germanic history, and Germanic History is a history of violence, oppression, murder, rape, and usurpation

British history is far more important than the pretensions of some wee fat german lairdies who have been fucking up every free country they touch for 3000 years
