Chinese LED Grow – 75 (actual draw) Watts per plant veg/100W per plant flower

I am LED used myself but I am using Vipar which I think is UK build. But to be honest some of those Chinese can outperform US and UK build but it is a bit of a gamble with them, your seems to be doing great.
I've seen some nice Vipar grows here too, some of these can grow nice weed. Have to weed out the bad ones. Everything else dialled-in is the trick imo, lights are critical but not the whole grow. If you stick to the brands people are showing/growing nice bud with, they're an economical way to grow some nice personal meds. Will have to judge quality longer term, I have 7 of these LG panels now and haven't had a single problem so far, time will tell, the payback is pretty quick so I'm not concerned.

If they are 3/4 as good as I think they are, I hope to start a trend

Not that there's anything in it for me (at least never discussed) but I get great pleasure giving back to all the peeps here who have helped me learn, and are searching for answers

If I was electrically equipped to trouble shoot, I would jump on the COB DIY bandwagon, b those guys run into issues I am not at all prepared to solve

The next best thing is the ability to choose my own spectrums, which BML let's us do, AND, see the results in real time

IMHO, companies like that need to be supported

They do sell direct, so maybe you an buy from them
I get bored quick, I'm sure I'll be trying out some new lights in a couple of runs, some nice lights to choose from out there, the market is maturing, nice to see. I came indoor last year and even in that time, the market seems to have developed fast. There's a wider range of lights and a steady market, should be large enough to support a few players, generate some innovation. LED's in general, imo are close to the tipping point in household use/affordability, some volume to support the market. Should be lots more to choose from in the next year or two.

Great thread! I am doing a similar grow but with 2 Apollo 300watts. Hope my plants grow as nice as yours.
Hey thanks for stopping in Mighty, glad you like the plants, I'm liking this run myself so far :) Getting close, just focused on keeping them healthy, another 4-5 weeks... Good luck with your grow!

Howdy GE, nice grow you have going there. I'm on a China kick myself with diy multichips. Using a combo of 100w ww for 8 $ each plus full spectrum grow chip which I picked up for 36 $ each. No pictures yet as it is early days and waiting for the thermal glue. I work in the semi industry and would never pay for the latest stuff in the market. .I might try some cxas when the price comes down to some thing more reasonable.

Hey ballist thanks for stopping in and the compliment, nice when a plan come together ;) Haven't gone into the DIY from scratch yet, although I've seen some amazing grows here from DIY panels, not out of the question. I hear you on the pricing, any of the newer tech always demands a premium, until they become mainstream or something new takes its place, the good thing is price always drops. Only DIY "panel" I've made so far was one I initially used for CFL's/clones/seeds, replaced the CFL's with off-the-shelf COB-style 3000k LED's and will be using them to supplement the next round I just threw in the flower room. Kind of DIY'd out right now, spent 4 months building my flower room, taking a break to just grow weed for a while :)

Hi all, another good week, weekly update, Day 37 of 12/12.

They're all in good shape for this stage, little yellowing, nice green, healthy leaves. Good bud development, fattening up, nice frosting on all of them now, JTR2 is looking and smelling like it will live up to it's billing, very nice looking and smelling plant with tons of trichs developing. Sativa's are my fav's and this one is looking like a strain I'll be keeping in my cycle for a bit :)

PBK1 is showing some clawing so I flushed all of them tonight, its' been 5 weeks since they had one and looks like PBK1 needed it.

On a sad note, but will use it later to my advantage, JTR Twins I had in veg were male, was about to throw them into the flower room when I did another close check of all of them and it was showing male pre-flowers :( Not all's lost though, threw it into an isolated area in a tent it will be milked of a bunch of pollen soon, it will live on as a stud, have some JTR, Blueberry, PPP, and Acapulco Gold coming up through the cycle, all potential breeding mates :)

But for now, focused on these girls, only 3 - 3 1/2 weeks or so to harvest, could be sooner for JTR2 if it keeps fattening-up at its current pace :)

Posting the group shots, then separate posts for each plant below...

Happy growing :)

JTR2, my fav sativa-dom, buds are growing and frosting very nicely, could finish in 7, definitely 8 weeks imo... Time to fatten up and finish :)

The last pic is of what was originally the main cola. I fimmed it 4 times during veg and it turned into to this freakish looking flat top, about 2" wide x 3/4" thick x 4" long. I've been trying to get some good pics to show what it looks like, the freakish top is surrounded by buds all the way up and down, should be interesting to see what it produces...

When I enlarged one pic it looks like you've got some white bugs on the leafs about 4" below the canopy

but, the pic is fuzzy when blown up

Hey Vlad, I own pretty well all of them, 2x 150W, 3x300W, 2x450W. I'd say it's a toss up on my favourite between the 300W and 450W. I like the 450W for 3 plants, for 4 plants 2x 300W is better coverage. The 150W's are great for seedlings and clones and smaller tents/cabinets though.

I like the flexibility of multiple panels and the way they're configured/sized for coverage, 2x150W = same coverage/size as 1x300, 1x300 +1x150 = same coverage as 1x450. For 4 plants I could use 2x300 (2x side-by-side in a square), or 1x450 + 1x150 (4 in a line). I have multiple grow boxes and the main flower room so depending on where I am at any stage I can move them around as needed.

Hey thanks Pet, didn't notice, will do a closer inspection. Hopefully nothing major. This is actually the first run I've had with no flies around so was kind of waiting for something to show up. Shouldn't be a big deal as there's only 2-3 weeks left, I'll chase that bug down, thanks!

Woah ! Nice buds GroErr. Im subbed. Glad those Leds are working out for you. Ive got a new grow going now using a combination of the 300w Leds and my 250w Hps and its going great so far. I think my last grow really suffered from not having enough heat so they just sort of went into suspended animation and never grew.

How do you get such a nice pictures under LED that show true colours, mine are just purple.
Hey leyus, it's something you have to play with depending on your room/camera but what I've found is that shutting off the LED's is typically required in the area you're shooting pics. Those pics are with the LED's shut-off above the plants, I have a 4 ft fluro fixture in the middle of the room that I turn on for pics and maintenance. Now I also have another 2 plants under a 300W in the corner of the flower room I was taking these pics in, that's the purples you see in that pic, nice effect, those walls reflect so much it's carrying some of the light from like 6ft away into the pics. Shooting with the lights on and a fluro above, they still turn out purple, with some green here & there.

Hey thanks aphrodisia, I'm liking the results of this grow, I obviously had a hand in lower/bad production the first couple of LED runs, called user error in computer terms ;) I think the trick is enough light/coverage/power, and of course dialling in the environment. I've seen too many runs trying to cover too much area with insufficient LED power. I'll be sticking to the 100W actual pull per plant (or more) rule of thumb going forward for flowering. I think you can get away with less, even down to 50W per plant in veg, but in flower you need more coverage/power. I know it's a simplistic measurement, but it's a good/easy rule of thumb, regardless of the panels being used.

I like the idea of mixing HPS and LED's, you should do well with that, good luck! I may try that next winter, summer's on its way and certainly won't need to add heat, I'll be running about 700-800W of LED's (actual draw) in that room through the summer which will be enough to deal with cooling it down. Just tried my new central air conditioned room though, last couple of days were into the mid-80's outside and 90% humidity, it works f'n awesome, dropped the temps down immediately during a 3 hour test, and that was with the variable controller on its lowest setting, should be able to handle the 95F+ temps outside with nothing to worry about this summer, sweet :)

Thanks for pointing out that "bug" last week. It wasn't a bug of any sort, have yet to see a single spider in that room and being spring I've seen a few around the house. However, while inspecting for the spot you pointed out. I did notice a couple of spots on a couple of lower PBK leaves. Turns out it was the beginning of PM, very light, and only affected the PBK's, nothing even close to the buds. Taking care of it (15% milk/85% filtered water solution) and seems to be stopped in in tracks for now, only a coupe of weeks to go now... I'll have to figure out how the heck it got into my brand new room, I'm a clean freak, tons of air-flow, low humidity, I'm thinking it came in from outside, was venting in cool air when it was still cold, will need to DIY a better filter if I'm bringing in outside air :( And of course a thorough wash-down with bleach when this run is over... the joys of indoor growing

The interesting thing with PM is it can strike anywhere, anytime, even outdoor. On a positive note, I noticed dealing with this is that the JTR strain must be quite resistive to PM, nice. Both PBK's had spots on some lower leaves. Yet couldn't find a single spot on the JTR plant. It's sitting sandwiched between the 2 PBK's! I mentioned in another post that PBK was on it's last run, I just removed the couple of clones I had coming up and planted them by themselves in a remote area outside, no PM supporting strains indoor!
