Forgive me, but I am recently new here and wasn't sure where best forum section would be best for this topic. I want everyone to see this if you grow indoors or are planning to in the future. Please pass it on to your friends as well.....Peace

I ran across some information that I real want to share with the growers here who might or may be having a difficult time being able to cool down their closest / stealth / tent / etc. grows. This is going to blow your mind and I promise - IT WORKS. I've seen it with my two eyes.

There's a lady whom my friend gets his medical cannabis from who grows indoors. She has been fighting to be able to cool her grow down since where we live, the sun doesn't show its self as much as where you may live and it's cold (VERY) all year round. The following is what solved the problem without even adding any electric costs. Understand something - where we are, it's not like you can just easily install a window air-condition unit. Plus the fact that it would stick out like a sore thumb since no one here needs to own an AC box. We have shutter vents that can be regulated by a thermostat.
They got the idea off the YouTube web which I have attached video shown below. Sorry I wasn't allowed to take any pics to share, but I will describe as best as possible. In the video they are using a 5 gallon bucket. Instead, she used a regular plastic ice cooler since they are already insulated. She would freeze 8 plastic one gallon water jugs placing four in the cooler a day and rotating the other four when needed, keeping four on hand at all times. Placing 4 jugs of frozen water in the cooler, she would pour half a gallon of water into the cooler around the jugs ( this turns the water cooler quicker but not to use too much water because it tends to melt the ice too fast ). The cooler will easily last 10 to 12 hrs blowing cold to cool air. She had no need of the swivel fan anymore because this cooler was now the fan for her plants. Even after the ice jugs had melted, this unit just circulated the cool air for a good while. I'm telling you, it's cool as hell. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. The fan that was originally used to fan air on her plants is what she used to place/secured on top of cut out hole on cooler's lid. The fan's width was 10 inches across with the base removed for easy handling. Enjoy video and Peace to all........ I know, I write too DAM much... sorry (lol). :peace:

that seems vary cool only thing that sucks is how offer you'd have to add ice especially under a 1000 watt light I bet that 5 hours would be lime 2 hours

1000watt......! that doesn't sound like a closet grow. I should of been more clear.... you are correct, 1000w will eat that ice up like no tomorrow. She only has a six plant small grow area 8x8 7ft tall insulated shed. But Man, after seeing that baby blow air for that amount of time, I bet it could handle a larger bulb. She's running two 300watt HID ' s

I saw this earlier today and went straight out to my utility room and made one from an old Styrofoam cooler. The shit is bad ass.... When we were done with it, we closed the door to my tool room (10x12) went to corner store and bought a bag of ice since we didn't want to wait for a jug to freeze. We sat back, watch the entire first season of Vikings and drank a case of beer and that dam little ac shit is still pumping out cold air....not cool but COLD air. Everyone needs to make one of these. I'm going to use this box this summer when my wife and I will take the kids camping. I'll let it run during the night, for sure this will cool all night....no problem.... Thanks GelenaAK420... Hey, just curious, is that Gelena Alaska ? If it is, your right, that's way too cold for me. What possessed you to live out there. Not much out there. The people were very friendly .

what a ''cool'' concept your imagination can change the design i have a 4'' duct fan & an old ice chest out in my shed big enough to hold 3-4 one gallon milk jugs my room is only 3'x4' oh yeah the wheels are turning

Couldn't someone with 1k's just use dry ice?
yes you could, but the cost of the ice every day would add up to the point you should of gone with an ac in the first month or two, Using regular ice is more common just because you can freeze it yourself and its free. I have personally seen these work, in a grow room as well and rather nicely. however if you go much over 1000-1500 watts in a 10x10 i could see it becoming a major pain in the ass for sure. but anyone with a small grow, i recommend this by far. (Note I am not from an area where its always cold, and am specifically talking about seeing this perform in the summer time with temps in the 90's and the person rocking it is using 1200 watts total in a 10x10 room with two of the buckets. He does have trouble maintaining a perfect temp though, it does fluctuate + or - 10 degrees from time to time.

If the area is well insulated and not too large, it should still be cool inside. You could make one out of a larger Styrofoam coolers where more jugs of frozen ice came be placed in, and for sure it will stay cold. :peace:

You still have to put water in the bottom of the jug. It would add a bit of humidity but the air is cold which would bring the humidity back down. I think you would be ok asking as your humidy wasn't already high. This is a cool idea!

The only seemed added humidity would be condensation on the outside of a frozen container which is still pulled from the existing moisture from the room. Top on frozen container = no added RH.
