If it was damage from the FIM or quasi-FIM the longest leaves at the center would show more damage, and the shorter leaves would show less. Based on my experience anyway. As I mentioned previously, 3 or 4 levels of leaves were damaged after FIM'ming ours because the top was so dense that several 'nodes' or 'levels' or however you'd say it got damaged with the one cut. One of your pictures shows a pattern of small dings in a little row. That was probably something dragged across the leaf while it was very young and fragile. If it was close to the topping operation that coulda been the scissors...

That drag mark I looked at real close also and I kept thinking bugs but yes the one not topped has no damage like that. Even today no bugs found. I'm pretty sure it's just damage from me. The one I haven't topped has now caught up to the other three in height, 23 to 24".

I noticed several leaves on our plants with patterns similar to yours. I think when they're very young it doesn't take much to damage them.

Going to start flower today. They're over 2 feet and with height restrictions I think it's time. The width also is getting crowded. I noticed humidity has risen on a few days to 52. It was mid 40's. Will this be a problem in flower?. It's really cooled off since that wicked heat wave we had. During that the humidity dropped to 25 for 4 days.

how does this light appear in colour to the eye ?
it looks very natural in the pics like regular house light

i like the idea of having this natural colour its much less conspicuous
rather than hps orange or the purple from most other leds
with those others all light needs to be blocked from escaping because it looks so unnatural coming from a house

Great light, super bright white led which really helps when doing maintenance and looking things over. I could really use another to flower though. Appears like a clean bright light.

I'm considering the XGS. The fact that it's "out of stock" helps me remain patient to watch your grow. I'm going to be very interested to hear how you'll compare the flower and harvest results to your previous experience with other lights. (They vegged great!)

The growing movement to fuller spectrum (even white) is interesting to me. My local hydro store doesn't endorse LEDs, but they've become enamored with Sun System ceramic MH light, a very white light compared to ordinary HPS or MH. That kind of confirms what appears to be a trend in LEDs.

I was thinking about the same thing with my most recent setup...how nice it is to have a natural-ish looking white, instead of the usual LED purple. Much easier on the eyes, dealing with the plants in the tent, for me. And way way easier to take pictures.

Yeh mate i maybe overly cautious but i always secure all the windows
make sure no light leaks out at all
unless its a natural colour it looks so odd the horrible orange colour of hps leaking out of windows
i even painted a wall black in my house lol as it was reflecting really bad into my back yard
i do not grow in tents in an open room

with the natural colour of this light i would only need a simple blackout curtain in the room
no need to stick shit to walls or covering up leaking in other rooms it will just look like natural house light leaking out
overall its much more stealth in the home situation

as for taking pics thats another great advantage

i think i want one of these lights regardless of how well they grow the plants which im sure is well
the colour is better than anything else
the purple colour from regular leds is horrible even worse than hps imo

Our RH rarely if ever dropped to 52%. Most of the time it was in the 60% range. You'll be fine.

Thanks for that because it's been fluctuating wildly with this weather. Today back in the mid fortys. I'm not gonna worry about it anymore. Az 2000 welcome, sorry I have no previous indoor experience. All my experience was a long time ago with outdoor grows. I'm pushing the limits of this light so we'll see how they finish. I'm happy so far. I'm really hoping the all white light compares well with color, I agree with kineboisin420 from plant maintenance to pictures all is good. I'm tempted to buy one. But, I really want to see how it works in flower. I'm sure the guy (Jeff?) behind A51 wouldn't release a dud light. But, it's still a big change in spectrum. And, he hasn't discontinued the red/white lights... I'm nervous.

I tried to find the weight but couldn't. Try emailing Jeff at Area 51 with that, you should get an answer. Two in a 4x4 should get good results, keep looking through these threads and you'll see some of the great results growers are getting with this light. I hear ya about being nervous about this light vs color panels and I've been following the led debate since last summer.but one day I just said screw it and ordered it. I've seen enough results to think I made a good choice. I just started flower I think Saturday so it's gonna be a little while but I'll keep the pics coming to the end.

We had a discussion of XGS weight months ago. Seems to me someone put theirs on a scale and it came out to about 12+ lb. So figure 15 lb. shipping weight.

Got 6.5oz with two week veg and only the xgs. So the light definitely works. Genetics and experience goes a long way though. So if you have those two LED is definitely a viable option.

Just go look at multipasses blueberry grow and my last grow. He got ~4oz and that's a low yielding strain. I had a mix of strains 6 in coco 2gal air pots. Got 6.5oz with two week veg and only the xgs. So the light definitely works. Genetics and experience goes a long way though. So if you have those two LED is definitely a viable option.

Thanks. I didn't realize there had been completed grows with the light. The plants look really good, healthy. They look leafier.

I bought a Blackstar v2 180w (120w actual) "HO" (veg) LED. It's much more white than the "UV" model (which is the usual red/blue and called "full spectrum."). It produced a monster plant, but it had some issues in flower under the typical red/blue "full spectrum." Lost most of its leaves early on. Going into flower it was very leafy like I saw in those two grows you referred to.

I'm kind of curious what a plant would do if I kept it on the "HO" light in flower. Wonder if the switch to red was a stress.

Oh well, just thinking out loud. The lush, leafy nature of the plants you referred to reminded me of what I saw under that HO light.

How much leaf loss under the blackstar?. I've had some but mostly bottom leafs which I expected from too much crowding. 8 days into flower and bud sites starting to show hairs.

I would go through your plants and thin out the bottom lower shit over the next week that isn't doing much in there. Just leads to problems down the road, the stuff that is below your thick canopy (nice job) will just piss you off when you are trimming lol. Will help with air flow too.

How much leaf loss under the blackstar?.

My soil went extremely acidic 2 weeks into flower (it's an autoflower, so 2 weeks is more like 3-4 in photosensitive terms?). I'm sure the leaves yellowing and falling was due to lockout. But, this plant looked so stunningly different in late veg. Large, lush, bushy, dense, deep green (like I'm seeing with these XGS grows.). I felt the switch to typical red/blue LED contributed to the stress.

I was thinking out loud about whether remaining under that blue/white light in flower would have been better for the plant (notwithstanding the stress below ground). FWIW, the whole experience taught me a lot about not becoming complacent (I had stopped testing runoff because I thought I was dialed in), raising soil ph through risky measures (hydrated lime), and the benefits of foliar feeding as an alternate route of nutrition. I'll attach a photo of her yesterday, as she entered her 10-14 day water-only cleanse.

BTW: I ordered an inexpensive Cidly Apollo with 3750k warm white to experiment on the cheap ($150, free shipping). I wanted to get started with XGS's spectrum before they're available. And, I'll need two -- which I won't be able to swing at once. So, this is a way to step into it cautiously. If the "prototype" works ok, I can go with one XGS and have this prototype as the 2nd unit until I could swing a second XGS. (I had one done with Grow Northern's Rebel spectrum too. I should receive both at the same time and I can compare. The poor man's way to sort out how different spectum work.).
