Ebb and Flow

Hello boys and girls. I am a dirt farmer. I am tired of watering and making nutes on a daily basis. I am thinking of going Ebb and Flow. Have found a nice little 12 pot system. Can anyone relate their experience with this type of system. I know a bit but am not a pro by any means with Hydro growing. You input and advise is appreciated.

I've not run a system like this myself, but I've read up a good bit and remember some things from other user's experiences.

Timer failure sucks.
Pump failure sucks.
Pump clogging sucks, figuratively, (salt, plant material, whatnot).
Great for root pruning and oxygenation.

That's all I got for now.

Hi Unc. Well those are problems you can have with any Hydro system. It is changing one thing for another the way I look at it.

12 full size plants? :wall:

I run my own hybrid hydro system with 2 plants in a 2 x 4 tent

Once they go to flower, and even before (at 30 days veg, one plant was > 4ft tall and 2+ ft in diameter) , they suck quite a bit of either water or nutes daily.

I have a 3g rez, which I top off with ~ 1/2g of either water or nutes every day

So a fair amount of nute mixing each week

It becomes old hat after a while, especially if you use a one part dry formula. I have been using Hydroponic Research VEG+BLOOM for ~ 2 years. Swear by it

Drop by my thread to see 24 day from first pistils can look like

Thanks for your input petflora. I will check out your grow. The system I am looking at has a 55 gal reservoir. And you can fill it as full as you like, buckets you use depends on how many and it says your solution is good for 1-2 weeks. I will check out the nutes you use as well.

This Girl IS a OLD SCHOOL midwestern strain called PK RIPPER. This is the original. I seen some out in cali i think but I'm not a believer that he has the PK strain.. IT originated from my area and is still here but i have the last clone around..IMG_3560.JPG

you will be satified with the simplicity of ebb and grow. once you dial in your strain its like set it and forget it. well not quite forget it i have built an ran allot of hydro systems and this system will give you the best conclusion next to aero. wich is death for your plants if theres any fails within a couple hours. dont let anyone dicourage you from this set up. if you have any ? feel free. check my journal. theres also a thread on this system.lots of great info and some bad. BUY IT OR BUILD IT!¡!¡ make sure the sytem is 3/4 inch not 1/2 inch. 1/2 inch will give you issues on a 12 site.

Good way to grow iv had really good success and quick growth using cottaballs good not having to check daily if u trust ur pump and timer only downside is nutrients can get expensive especially in big reservoirs being you have to change water and nutrients regularly also constant ph and ppm measuring can be easier once you have a good system going definate quicker growth tho

Have you decided wether or not to run a sterile res or beannies? I run a ebb and flow, three years now and love it!!!

The plants start getting red stems if you're a few days late getting there to change the res:)
Ive never had that happen and ive done nothing but top off the res with fresh h20 and didnt do a nute change for 30 days. my plants showed no ill affects.Im not saying dont change your res every 10/14 days.just saying this one time. it probably varies by strain

If i had the room, I'd ebb and flo all day, all night.... everyday and night!
The fill cycle doesnt really matter that much but you want it to drain faster cause when the water level is dropping its also replenishing fresh oxygen to the root zone.

Other than the obvious that it drains faster, why use only 1/2 inch? Does speed of draining matter that much??
