What would be karmic is if a person who made those threads eventually was one of their "victims."

The civil war freed the slaves, and pissed off the slave owners. In their view they had been robbed. They spent the next few decades trying to get it back. Criminal sentences to forced farm labor.

I'm not commenting on the right or wrong of it, but the is.

Had the civil war not happend, and slavery been given a free hand, it would have went past 1865. But it would have likely ended prior to 1900.

Race relations wouldn't not have devolved after because of forced emancipation.

Life was hard on all blacks for a long time.

Hard to tell if the slaves, or the free, impoverished no freedoms blacks from 1880 to 1950 had it harder.

I guess my point is that the civil war set race relations back over 100 years. Not civil rights. How well the two races got along.

We would all be better off today had there been no forced emancipation.

Blacks included.

I understand that slavery was dying, and the war was fought over tariffs, not emancipation. slavery would have ended by 1900, but vestiges of it would have remained. maybe by today, they would have the vote, and by 2070, be catching up economically. not good enough. the Fed could have just bought them all, like Britain did. it would have cost less than the Civil War. I'm not fighting either; that's Buck's job. I just stand strongly for the freedom of all people, and hearing about the butt-hurt of plantation owners over emancipation is not a just motive for Jim Crow, in my eyes.

The North was just as guilty for their actions as well. They used blacks as cannon fodder who died at over twice the rate of white people. Or you saying black people are just not very good soldiers?
