i was trying to clone my plant but i don't have enough money for rooting solution. i was just wondering if there was an easily homemade type that i could make without it being to expensive. (i'm growing in soil and would like to start clones in soil). i was looking at this recipe on the internet about using willow trees. i would use this method but i have no acess to those trees...:confused::confused:

rooting hormone is not necessary if all other conditions are good.:joint: ps.rooting gel/powder is only £1 .50

but i was thinking it was better to have the hormone because it's better to be safe then sorry. and i'd rather make the solution because i am saving up every little bit of money to buy better lighting and to upgrade my grow box

Root hormones are not needed to clone but they do make the process quicker with a much higher sucess rate, ive read some crap about using willow extract to clone with but ive never tried it,i use Take Root powder & get damm near 100% sucess rate.

Cloning powders only cost $5 for enough to cut hundreds of clones :?.

Isn't aspirin made from Willow bark?

I've tried a few different rooting compounds. And so far I like Vita Grow the best. Just got dip-n-grow today to try out.

I use Root 66 and Thrive-alive B-1, the red one for my cloning solution with Rootech cloning gel. Less than $12 for all 3. I know you are on a tight budget so this solution is probably not viable. I tried cloning without cloning solution and did not have very much success. Since I went the cloning sloution, I am running 100%.

Good luck and I hope you find a solution (pun intended ) to your problem.

Willow bark contains salicylic acid, which is a precursor to aspirin (salicylin). My grandmother used to put an aspirin in her vase when she would cut roses to keep them fresh longer. They never sprouted roots, though ;)

I thought aspirin came from the willow tree, wasn't quite sure, just knew there was a natural source.

Aspirin still might work. A rose or flower is at the end of the life cycle. Have you tried rooting a cut bud? I might give it a whirl for grins and giggles. I ain't expecting a thing from it, but what heck?

no but when you try it get back to me it's always good to experiment. the only reason i have just started to clone is because i've started to run out of seeds lately. i only have 5 left and i want to keep those incase of a real emergency

yeah man i ws thinken that either way if the asprin one don't work the i'll have a couple in a glass that i know will work so regardless i will have a few rooted clones. when i do this i'll start a new post so you all can see which one worked better
