I'm still trying to get a feel for how many I'd need in my application. Are two enough to directly substitute for an HPS thouie? Therefore, would four be enough to replace two thousand watt HPS lamps?

i think 4 would replace a 1000 watt.(mine pulls 245 at the wall)

Another responder above posted a link to units that pull around 340W. Three would directly replace on a watt for watt basis, but they are said to produce much more ppf than HPS. I'm wondering if two would suffice in that case.

I used to run 2 allstart 330's. they covered a little more area than a 1000w. 2 cmh would match yield of a 1000w and bud size. qaulity was far better under cmh...

no I don't. My place was robbed last year. i lost everything. I almost went cmh again. I came into a bunch of money and said fuck it and got inda gros. Been happy ever since. I've thought about throwing up cmh's again. I'm waiting for the 120v ballast to come out for the elite agros..

The ballast on the site you listed shows they run 120-277V. I'm already running 240V for my lighting so it wouldn't be a change.

I have a buddy who likes his indagro lights, too. I run a vertical 360° silo that requires an omnidirectional light source, which is why I am investigating the CMH.

That must have been a typo by genuity^^^ as the lec 315 pulls around 340-350watts per unit..... two should almost replace a mogul based 1000w hps.

Me like. I like the lower wattage too, cuts that heat load! How much would four cost? I wonder how many would qualify for a decent discount...

If you have no use for a reflector(extra $$$) i would look at the cerametek kits or advanced lighting solutions kit (240v) which is way cheaper....if available yet???

The Agro T12 would have to be very close in vert. Maybe stack 2 or 3...or put on a light mover. You could always get an 860w for only a $100 (requires a 1000w MH mag ballast)

The Agro T12 would have to be very close in vert. Maybe stack 2 or 3...or put on a light mover. You could always get an 860w for only a $100 (requires a 1000w MH mag ballast)

Plan is for two of these to be stacked vertically, socket butts together. A horizontal post holds them in position in the silo. I'm thinking I could fit two of these arrangements for a total of four lamps mounted vertically inside a six foot tall space. What do you think?

That can't be......the bulb draws 315w alone without the ballast, maybe it's being dimmed by a faulty ballast? Did you check the kilowatt meter on a 40/60w incandescent bulb to make sure it's accurate?

You have to consider the height of the bulb, intensity, and the top and bottom 'dead zones' of the small bulb. I had plants 12"-14" from my 860w. IMO CMHs don't have the bulb length and intensity for a tall vert...unless you keep plants close, use at least 3 bulbs, or have a light mover.

the meter is good,but i was expecting like you said around 340-350 at the wall.

the light reads the same on the other meter,even the amps are half(2.0 amp) on meters...and it should be 3.9
the light is working just fine,surpasses the 400's in veg by far.

Aren't you concerned that it's absolutely running below specs by a significant margin?
talking about a spectral shift here as with all mh bulbs when dimming.....your are not getting that beautiful spectral distribution that you paid for.

I would ask for a Phillips replacement ballast from the vendor or complete swap if still under warranty imo.

You say the meters are accurate then it's ballast not the bulb obviously...

Huh? Did I not just say four bulbs twice?

If the lamps are stacked upright vertically in the space, like I described in the same post, they will all be in one another's dead spot and the plants will be getting the best light...
