the government took 2 grand out of my tax return last year because they said that they overpaid my survivors benefits (SSI)

the overpayment was in 1984! 30 YEARS AGO? they got an eye on my money but they loose 619 billion?

penny wise and pound foolish??!!
That doesn't make a lot of sense.
Isn't there a statute of limitations? In Canada, anything over 6 years is history as far as Revenue Canada is concerned.

President Obama has hit another low in another poll, but so have many of his critics in Congress.

The latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll gives the president an approval rating of 40%, a record low; Congress has a rating of only 14%, also a low.

NBC News reports that "six in 10 Americans are dissatisfied with the state of the U.S. economy, more than 70% believe the country is headed in the wrong direction, and nearly 80% are down on the country's political system."

The pollsters "attribute the wide discontent to the lingering effects of the Great Recession, as well as a loss of faith in the country's politicians," NBC says.

You know what is even more disturbing? Only 2% of the data from http://usaspending.gov/ is verifiable, the rest cannot cut the mustard when reconciled with the books.

In OTHER WORDS: We have all been lied too, the numbers are a farce, someone is stealing our livelihoods while government is the accomplice that covers it all up.

You should ALWAYS appeal. The appeal process is such a tiresome and demanding process that the government will just relent unless the amount is over $20,000.
yea, then they are all," oh thanks for coming in Mr. Strax, looks like you owe us this money and we are going to audit you to find more money you can owe us."

you poke the bear, I will be in my closet

I have successfully appealed against the IRS 3 times. Against various federal alphabet agencies on 2 other occasions. I have never lost. One of my friends in another state needed help with a SNAP appeal or they would have to pay back the $8,600 in benefits they got, I wrote an appeal for my friend and they paid nothing.

Another friend had problems with workers safety insurance, I wrote an appeal for him and he got what he wanted.

Always appeal a decision that doesn't go your way. It's your right.
