giving defoliation during flower a try

I dont know if it is the same as defoliation but I will top a plant early for 8 main colas and I find I need to pull leaves off its just too many i train around a ring and then I only remove leaves from the bottom so its easyier to water I then try to remove the mass of leaves in the center of my ring or they just overlap and fill it up . I try to only trim what I feel necessary little bit at a time other wise I have leaves getting wet with my nute mix as im watering and they get nasty and for better air flow.

your plant looking good but when do a lot of lst and grow round the edge of a ring/pot, you have to remove all the lower leaves and some of the shoots ( that's what i would call defoliation in veg to train your plants)

what you want to aim for is a full canopy with a little space between each shoot ( just an inch or two is great)

if the canopy's too full you could end up with bud rot in late flower and if you get any pests you won't know till its too late

also you will find buds tend to grow short and fat, instead of long dank colas

because if light can only perpetrate the top 4" that's where all the best buds going to grow

if the light can perpetrate a 12" down you buds can grow a lot longer :)

and before anyone say the plants leaves help all parts of the plant grow, you can cover one shoot with a paper bag for 12 hours a day and only that shoot will flower because its only receiving 12 hours of light

Ya I see . The plant in the first pic was really under watered because I was away for a bit and couldnt water the second is in a 10 gallon rather than 5 gallon so it was ok but u can see how thirsty the skinny girl is . As for the el nino it seems every couple weeks I have to pull some and it just keeps filling back in . I cut all the bottom shoots off that were below my ring maybe 3 nodes up on every stalk and its just a leafy mess all in all id say I trimmed 20%

its not easy but you do need to keep on top of it
here a couple of my plants where in have removed a lot of fan leaves to get the bigger buds, its not easy you can remove too many or it can go the other way

You removed sickly fan leaves which lowered yield because the fan leaves were sickly.
I removed some fan leaves because I wanted to pull a lot of bud for a small plant

removing the leaves and trainning the plant right ( single plant) gave the results any grower would aim for

So I topped, lst and removed fan leaves tbh pretty much the same as you do when you main-lining a plant

which is the easy way to get results just like me

You can keep your popcorn on you 3ft plants
I only want long fat buds on short plants
18" is a good hight to aim for so i get some 12" long buds :)

[QUOTE="Uncle Ben, post: 10783759, member: ]Someone needs to read a book on botany and learn what the function of a leaf is.

Fact - you could have doubled your yield by learning how to keep ALL fan leaves green and healthy until the day of harvest. Those fans leaves are in bad shape.

How does one keep leaves green uncle ben . This Is something I strugle with at the end of flower

forget everything you learned on these forums, get a good 1 part veg nute and that is it. Once i lost all the Bullshit, ppm,ph,bloom foods, bloom boosters and all the other bullshit and just grew the plant to be healthy, I saw my yields double. Best thing to increase yield is to get better lights and better your environment. all these bullshit tricks are just that, bullshit.

bloom nutes were designed as another way to get your money. Uncle Ben taught me that. I dropped all the nonsense and went to an all purpose nute and saw the results for myself. I use dyna gro foliage pro and/or jack's citrus feed. Look at the pics above of jacksthc leaves, those things are fried from abuse of bloom nutes, now, look at all these plants https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&site=imghp&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1600&bih=799&q=growing+marijuana+plants&oq=growing+marijuana+plants&gs_l=img.12...2385.14596.0.16735.24.8.0.16.16.0.148.695.6j2.8.0....0...1ac.1.51.img..12.12.704.P5WKs8Y9aJo#hl=en&q=outdoor+marijuana+plants&tbm=isch

notice anything DIFFERENT???

I see the burn thats not my problem I always watch for nute burn and if I see the tiniest bit on my tips I back off . Im not comfortable enough with altering my feeding doeses I havent tried maxing them out or anytjing . My thing is around 5-6 weeks in flower the whole leaves turn yellow or fall off slowly

I do Not use bloom of any kind, i run a very low amount of veg nutes every time i water, this works well in peat moss, In soil, i Would do organic teas and bennies. In hydro,Never done it, no suggestions there, maybe a good 2 or 3 part.
