Frozen is right, if your gonna do this method you should do the 30 gallon tote with 2 plants so each gets 15 gallons of rezervoir or do like im doing and use 5 gallon bucket DWC's and then save an 18 gallon tote with a 10" net pot for a special cutting <3 and seclude it so it has space and light of its own cause its gonna get fucking huge with 18 gallons of root space.

also for 5 gallon DWC u can use 1 airstone but anything over 10 your gonna want 2 airstones, over 15 you'll want atleast 3. and at 30 your gonna need more like 5.

though i know a buddy who uses 2 airstones with a 2 outlet dual diaphragm pump on a 20 gallon DWC and he doesn't have any problems.

I have 2 10" air stones with a 20-60 gallon pump. I have had no problems. Plenty of bubbles and with only 4 plants I can control the bubbles and consintrate them right under the plants.I am using 5" net pots. From what I have read on the autoflowers I should have plenty of space for 4 of them. The Jock Horror's grow like a pine tree and the Bubblelisious branch but very little. I guess I should expect 1-2 OZ per plant so the yield is small they are ready between 8 and 11 weeks.

i feel you. ive just heard that when u start getting so big of a rez ur gonna need more air stones or you will have problems, not enough oxygen and root rot eventually.

I have only done DWC once and it failed, well ok I failed. Wondering if a water pump would be way better than an air-stone to get DO levels up? Bubbles are not a very efficient way to introduce DO.

run both :D just run a hose from the pump to above the waterline and have a waterfall

From what I have read as long as you keep your res temps between 60 and 68 root rot shouldn't be a problem. Mine are between 56 and 64 with the 2 liter bottle method of cooling.I plan on adding another 2 way air pump and 2 more stones just to produce more oxygen but the 2 I have are more than sufficient. I get a lot of air bubbles! The Roots NEED Oxygen and the air stones work great!

USE A SMALL SUBMERSIBLE WATER PUMP TO AGITATE THE SURFACE AREA OF THE WATER! IT ADDS SIGNIFICANTLY MORE D.O. THAN AIR-STONES
the air stones work great!
NO THEY REALLY DON'T!

Interesting. I think I've heard that some time in the past too.
Would a cheap 70 gph water pump work alright for say a 30 gallon tote? Do you just leave it as is (out of the box) at the bottom or run with a riser?

bottom pointed up works.... I have one that has suction cups and I stick it to the side so the outflow "skims" the water surface.... no air pump required!
use that handy search bar at the top and type in "flooming"

I've ran air for for the first while but it really seemed to mess with my ph so I stopped. Besides the air stones kept plugging up. The flooming works well for my setups. My last system was setup so the plants were basically in a 6" deep fast flowing river 24/7 and I had spectacular results for the most part.

flooming is a little different than undercurrent.... But props to you sir! Fuck those annoying air pumps!

I know flooming is different and I floom in the main res as well as upper tray by basically using a water fountain type action in both. Lots if water flowing as well. Works great but I have niw switched to spray nozzles as well as water fountain in res.

and some 5 gal buckets..

more airstones for hat 30 gal rezz..you can actually "overwater" in DWC by not supplying the roots enough O2 (I just did it in a 30g tote with one plant)

reason for only using one rez per plant is that if you do for some reason end up with a root issue it does not effect all th plants.

dutch master zone seems to be doing me good this grow. not sure what your running for nutes but if its just syntetics then ductch master grow may be a worthwhile investment for you. kills anything in the water so it dosent start growing and invading your roots.
