Ice breakers can now pass in winter since there is no multiyear ice in that part of the arctic anymore. You asking for a citation is just fucking obtuse. It is common fucking knowledge that ships can regularly take the northwest passage. Even Wikipedia is up to date on this. What do you want, something from NASA?

I posted an old newspaper article from 1905 showing the first ship navigating the Northwest Passage, so that is proof the ice cap was smaller back then. It wasn't navigable again until the 1940s, so that means the ice cap grew until the 1940s and shrunk again.

You come back with " 2009 was the first year ever that the northwest passage remained navigable year round"

And now it's only ice breakers that can navigate year round.

What a face palm. LOL

Perhaps you should go research your story again...

It took them 3 years to make the journey the majority of that their ship was stuck in ice

Yet you claim this as proof there was less ice then?

Sometimes a little bit of multiyear ice has melted in the summer. You think there was a contradiction where there wasn't yet you want a peer reviewed citation for open shipping lanes. So please provide proof that the northwest passage was regularly open in 1905 year round as a shipping lane.

There was less ice back then, there are many years where there is too much ice to make the trip during the summer season..
I've done my research well, what you fail to realize is that it was over 100 years ago and done by a sailing ship made of wood.

In1944 the first successful single season trip was made in 86 days.

How come you're not saying anything about abandonconflic's claim that in 2009 the Northwest Passage was navigable all year round? LOL

I'm enjoying it. Did you know that very recently for the first time ever, a cargo ship navigated the northwest passage with out a cutter escort? Cutters can only navigate first year ice.

You're so fucking dumb it is palpable. It is not the sort of claim which can be or requires citation. Companies and nations plan their travels and shipping and the lane is open. They don't have to ask scientists if it ok.
