Hey guys so i had you guys help alot during my first grow i relly love this site use are all great. But i need some help again. I been looking this up for ever read every site everything possible but i just need a lil more help. I grew some great strain like skywalker og royal haze nd i have a few others still flowering but from my first grow up now with the skywalker and the royal i harvested nd they smelt pretty good. I let them hang dry for a few days thenet them cure. But after the dry the like loose there smell nd syart to smell almost like hay. Then when they cure its like thr smell gets a lil stronger. My question is what causes this or what can i do to fix it or prevent it. Cuz i have some strawberry cough and other strains almost done md they smell amazing and i relly dont want tht to happen with those. Soo please any input or advice will help very much.
thank you=)

I want to poke fun but I think it is normal for some weed to turn into hay. Have you smoked any?

How long did you cure for? I notice the smell sometimes after a few days drying, but after about two weeks curing in a jar it goes away.

Welcome Tarentelli!
Simon has documented an idiot-proof method for curing, and I was able to pull off an awesome cure, despite having hung it ALMOST too long. I did a side by side with paper bag method, and the bag bud smelled like hay at times. As an idiot, I approve the Simon method, which produced professional tasting buds.

Get some Caliber IV meters, glass jars, and don't open and sniff the jars out of curiosity, just follow the steps.

Thank you above the hey comes from a bad dry and cure most likley dried too fast and not cured right

Now ime if you dry it right you dont need to cure but will still get better if you dry it wrong then no amount of "cure" will bring it back :)

My weed always smells like hay. It's embarrassing. :) It smells great on the vine, then I carefully dry and cure and I end up with hay that gets you high. :)
My thought is that it is perhaps my lights. I use 150 w HPS. Maybe it's not enough juice to get the most out of my plants. Another thought is too much nitrogen in my flower nutes which would allow the chlorophyll to hang on for too long.
Another thought is that I grow shitty strains.
Another thought is that I just have no idea what I am doing :)

What light and nutes and medium do you use? What are your temps?

I've fast dried good bud and it's dankness doesn't go away. A cure only degrades terpenes, it won't bring back lost terpenes.
How fast you talkin about? cause if you know about terpine degradation then you know about chlorophyll
which is almost certainly the culprit along with a shitty flush.
I find the better its flushed its easier to get good results

hay is for horses:)

Agreed that hay is for horses.

I'm with @sunny747 too much nitrogen in later flower.

I've run many hydro systems and I never flush. I simply feed with the proper balance of nutrients as flowering progresses. One must cut back on nitrogen and increase phosphorous in late flower and the last few weeks any use of calmag should be suspended.

Witnesses will attest to the quality terpene levels, smooth smokability and high potency of my weed.

Perhaps flushing soil is required because it was overfed and underwatered the whole time causing build-ups, sans that situation, a flush is not required even in soil.

I run aero and not.flushing too me is an excuse. but to each there own as this is a hot topic. I agree if growing properly IN soil then not flushing isnt as bad or mabey not needed.

If your plants are GREEN they have CHLOROPHIL and NITROGEN

BUT IF HIGH NITROGEN is the cause . a flush would make.that go away.

all im sayin as. long as its TASTEY and burns to a FINE WHITE POWDER than its FINE to me
just my 2
