Most of those principles apply to how Russia treats the US now.
Couldn't even attack Syria after the chemical attack false flag for fear of angering the Ruskies.

But, from our level the experts leave no trace. So, we don't even know if the tension is all a sham, to pull the string on the ball sack and hand Assad to Turkey. I understand that is what this fog of war period is about. Turkey delays for their own serving of Justice.
