Workout slump: Cure please...

Nah, I stay away from those, with the exception of Vt. D, probiotics, and calcium. There's just too much research that says mega doses of vitamins can cause cancer. I think it's one of those things where, depending on your constitution, it may work for you. I am a nutrition geek so I like to go for nutrient dense low glycemic foods. The more nutrients the better.
no coquinol or fish oil? I agree there are lots of studies showing too many antioxidants can be cancer causing, but i'm talking about a daily vitamin, not mega doses.
Coquinol is very good for pot smokers, and so are the omega fish oils

Yes, I'm hit or miss w/ the fish oil. I agreee that it is good, but one has to be careful of the source. Some companies put out cheap/bad oils. And IDK, man, studies are showing bad news for even moderate vitamins...

What does Coq Au Vin do for pot smokers? (J/K Coquinol, I mean)

I love me some fish oil, Nordic naturals is my favorite, lemon flavored, I notice a difference in my skin and hair, in particular.A marked difference if I run oout of them, The coq10 (the best stuff is the coquinol version) helps with those that smoke and exercise (the study is on cig smokers not pot smokers, but was related to the pulmonary and cardio vascular aspects of lowered lung functions) helps heart function, increasing the amount of blood being pumped per heart beat, and also coquinol was observed to improve energy, fatigue and "rebound" time for muscles, sorta like creatine, I suppose.
Primarily I use them both to combat free-radicals and carcinogens. I run an auto shop, and literally everything I touch causes cancer, and I have probably an unhealthy/irrational fear of it... but whatever.
The information here is sorta paraphrased AND off of memory (stoner memory, no less) so please don't bust balls if it's not 100% perfect, so if you are interested in learning more specific details i'd check some health sites

for vitamins I like the rainbow light brand, I got some of those for my girlfriend and she noticed a big difference, so I tried the guys version, good stuff, and the jarrows formula for the coquinol is the one I like too. The key is to get as much absorbable as you can.
My problem is I don't like veggies much, I eat like a metric ton of fruit, but veggies I lack, I feed my wormbin more veggies than I eat. Course my blender broke, and I used to eat kale like crazy...mmmm kale smoothie, with mangos, cucumbers, spinach, blueberries...

I take a lot of supplements and have for years. I don’t supplement Vit E or A. If you’re serious about supplementing, IMO it’s worthwhile to belong to this site: http://www.consumerlab.com/ They evaluate by brand and composition and offer the latest studies/news on what’s good/bad for you.

Variety, variety, variety.

Doing the same workouts over and over bore me to tears, so I have to switch it up every month or so.

All slumps can be overcome with 1 of the 3 following activities:
1. Spending money on things you don't even need, but would love to have.
2. Eating large portions of food you know you should not be eating (and not feeling guilty).
3. A sexual encounter with another human (preferably attractive and mid 20's).

Enjoy.

I usually love to work out, only lately I've just been "meh" about all my favorite routines. Thought joining Crossfit would cure it, but it's only frustrating me more. I miss the glorious feel of working the body. Now it only feels like drudgery. Which happens from time to time but not this long.

What I've tried:

taking a break for a week (drove me nuts)
cross training (hiking, African dance, Zumba, weights, and yes the Brazillian butt

What do you all do to get out of the slump?
Wake up first think in the morning and put your track shoes and your workout clothes on. Thats the only way I can commit to working out;)

you took a week break?

ewwwwwww..that's like not brushing your teeth for a week:wink:

i have a club elliptical at home and i train 3x week.

seems to always be love/hate between the two.

i buy toys. recently, weighted hoop, jump rope..i've been looking at fitbit.

talk to my trainer about changing it up and he's very responsive.

like some days i like to do boxing moves 1-5 for the 30 min.

he does really keep it changing constantly..i usually have more issue with the cardio/elliptical.

Ok, weighted hula hoops are HARD! I went to bellydance camp and there was a hooping artist there. she taught us a workshop dance/hooping and this is NOT your moon's hula hoop LOL!

I'm back on the wagon hard core. with all the heavy holiday food and all. Gotta or I'll pop.

If a work out isn't fun, you'll stop You mentioned swimming for low impact...that's great, but the pool is the problem. I know it sounds goofy for adults, but I swear by a backyard trampoline. It's highly aerobic, low impact, and it makes everyone smile. Some care must be taken to not land wrong, or fall off. But it's a great calorie burner that's tons of fun. I kitesurf and I use the tramp as a trainer and simulator of airborne moves. That and I ride an old fashioned heavy beach cruiser in my hilly neighborhood. And do pull ups at the local monkey bars when kids aren't around. You're right, hookabelly, hanging out at the school when kids are playing would be weird! ;) Try a few puffs and an entertaining podcast to help you through sometimes!

Hey FR, trampoline here would only get used about 4 months out of the year. (I live in soggy WA state) but I did just start a new online fitness site.., first day was pretty good yesterday

What's your site?
The Daily Burn. I researched a bunch of others but want something cheap. This seems to have the most workouts for the price. It looks like I'll have to do 2 of them each session to get the workout I'm used to getting. But I do like the African dance one I tried. Their calories burned count is waaaay off IMO

that's how I get with work, ive plenty of ambition, I just hate to waste it on work, although iconoclast hit the nail on the head. The key is to find what works for you and just grow it :)

I throw a net. Simple, lots of fun. do it in yard, wear clothes U have on,4 casts or 40, works every muscle except neck. do it right and left handed, low impact,no sweating, men or women, cheap entry( net I throw most, $12.50 at Walmart)$25, will get U started, can get small light, small heavy, larger light, larger heavy, your improvement keeps U coming back, hardest part is relaxing and manicuring the net. Who knows U may catch a fish or turtle,

Never heard of that. Sounds interesting though. However in my neck of the woods all I'd catch right now is a cold. Too cold around here for net throwing.

Yea. Cold sucks, but half a loaf is better than none. At a $25.entry fee it's good exercise for even a handful of months.
