I agree - I have also read that plants prefer to have constant temps between lights on and lights off.

The LA Con outside is definitely stunted compared to the summer plants. However it is very frosty and the terpene profile has changed significantly giving it a decidedly Cheese odor!

The big surprise are the plants in the trash pile that are growing like it is summer. 90% have been males though. Cold really does select for male!

My room doesn't fluctuate much temp wise from lights on to lights off but it's because I run my light at night. It get's colder in there during lights off this time of year but not much. The highest temp I've seen since switching to the 600 is 76 and it seems to stay around 70 during the day right now.

@SomeGuy - I want to try making teas pretty bad but just haven't taken the time to learn enough about it yet. I don't have space to make my own compost so I have been toying with the idea of picking up a bag of compost and going that route.
What are your thoughts? How are you making yours?

im unethical... LOL What i do is use some beneficial like subculture b and some plant tonic and organic ferts from BMO. Then I add other nutes, silica etc.. I bubble for three days. you can see froth on top when its done. Your ppm will be higher than when you started (mine started at 1100ppm and last night was at 1500). I then mix it down to proper ppm depending on plant. I use tap water that has sat for several days. The brewing will chelate the nutrients and allow the beneficial to make it more readily available to the plant.

Obviously compost could be used as the inoculant or beneficial. The idea is that you are feeding them and multiplying them before you give the mix to the plants. The extra o2 in the water helps too.

I've seen bags of compost tea mix at the local nursery. They're made by the same people as this compost they sell. I've thought of just getting one of those ready mix type things and brewing that for 72 hours in a couple of buckets.

I will wait though because I don't have $ to buy any ingredients right now.

I will run out of the FF nutes I like to use pretty soon and will have to switch to the Earth Juice stuff I have sitting around. I have used the Earth Juice line before and added the FF solubles but don't remember what the results were. I'm hoping they are at least as good as what I typically get from the FF line. I just want my plants to be healthy.

Its less about brands and more about whats in them. I use and have used a lot of different nutrients. Quite a bit of AN because people give it away. Knowing how to use nutrients in general helps in application of all types.

I'm willing to bet your growing intuition will guide you into using any nutrient mix and be effective with them.

I hope so. Right now all eight in the flower room are looking awesome and the eight that are in veg have darkened up a bit over the past week too. I am really happy with how things look right now. I still need to determine how many 5x5 containers I can fit on the shelves so I can pop seeds tonight.

I better get to it,lol.

I like the Alaska fish in veg (stinky) and I add lemon juice to reduce smell and eliminate chloramines. I made tea with ESPOMA organic vegetable fert. It smelled like shit - literally! I poured the solids in my garden and it grew some monster plants! Make sure you bubble the water for a day before compost is added as to remove any active chlorine elements. Worm castings are also very good in teas. You can get coffee grounds from starbucks and fruit waste from Juice bars. Mix it with a simple base or some native soil and add worms. It is like magic :)

I use CalMag with every watering and depending on the soil mix I will add silica for strength and bug resistance. Dandelions and other fast growing weeds contain silica and other nutrients that are very good in teas.

I now have 13 clones and will be putting 15-20 seeds into plugs. There's a Bubba Kush, nine fireballs, and two sour cherry. I'll put them all into the flower room in two weeks and a few days. They're all going on the shelf I'm putting in. Today, I lowered the shelf six inches and don't like the height. I don't like how it affects the plants on the floor and now that I have decided on a path for the shelf, I can get away with a little higher shelf. I'm thinking the magic number might be 33". Right in the middle of the two.

Well, last night I put seeds in plugs and today I hit the hydro shop.
8 - Dog

5 - Psycho Killer
Today at the hydro shop I got some 1 gallon grow bags, a bag of soil and two little containers for a school project for my kids.

There's a growing contest for the kids, lol. I already planted the seeds they sent home with the kids but the seeds all looked crushed to me. I may be buying some organic seeds from the nursery and restarting but we'll see. I wanted to try the free seeds first, mostly because I'm curious what they are. It didn't say on the paper what the seeds were but it did list some flowers and some veggies and herbs that you can grow to enter.

We're entering in the organic category and I'm going to pump whatever they are full of organic nutes. I am going to use the Earth Juice stuff for the contest.

Haha, the kids are actually going to be responsible for watering them. I'll keep a close eye on the plants for them but this is their deal.

Now I am a very competitive person so my kids better do a good job. I want to win something if I'm going to enter and I don't care if it's for ugliest plant (yes there's an ugliest plant category).

Just get some autos!

Succulents are cool and they are a good lesson for water conservation.

At UCI we used some clear blocks of rooting jello to grow seeds and clippings. It was awesome because you could see the roots grow.
