Dyna you were just my 1000 like. I'm glad it was you. Lol.

So I been at my place now for 2 years.

My garden is now starting to produce. It takes a few years of truck loads of manure before they produce good.

I just fenced a couple acres for calf's.
I just made a hog lot.
Got my chicken coop up last year. I just made a incubator from a foam box and cfl.

Going to get a bee hive or two this year.

And I hunt and fish.

Screw relying on anyone or place for food.

This year I am poised to supply most of my food.

Oh and kids love the interaction and learning to grow food.

My kids hardly will eat vegetables from the store.
They will eat most anything even raw from the garden.

I think if you wanna be vegetarian or whatever and feel right you gotta eat a lot of legumes, from my experience. I personally hack about 1kg dry minimum a week, and im 1,83 and 86kg. Chickpeas and black beans have the most complete amino acid score so i eat those every week at some point. I also find to feel saciated one should have a salad with lots of tastes at meals. I usually have 3 or 4 dishes on the go when i eat dinner or lunch, i think that helps too, having different tasty dishes makes it feel like an event is taking place.
I eat meat about once a week or a fortnight and i dont really miss it in between, Not even the taste that much and once ive eaten meat i dont feel like eating it for a while, when i eat meant is mostly cause im forced and pretty hungry and partly cultural too. However i actually do feel better when i eat meat once in a while than when i went a full almost couple of months without any meat, though could be psicological after eating meat for so long.
Bottom line is i went from eating meat every single day of life in pretty massive quantities to hardly any and i feel tons better(lol and i didnt even know how bad i was feeling its funny), i lost a lot of weight without trying, i have a lot! more energy(I will outskank anyone at riu no problem), my plumbings work fucking unreal i and a couple of minor health issues i had sort of disappeared. Also sleep better at night which is good for an insomniac. I dont believe eating meat all the time is good, i dont think it sits that right in me when i eat it in comparisson to a nice beans and rice with a fresh salad for instance, i love the taste but once you learn to cook some nice vegetarian things AND EAT LEGUMES! i swear you do not miss the meat. Id even go as far as saying that i feel more saciated after big meal of legumes than a big meal of meat. its a more comfortable saciation i cant explain. Its cheap as hell to eat less meat too, 4kg of legumes will set you for 1 month of lunches and dinners, also canned legumes are utter shit compared to cooking them yourself, from my experience.
If people at less meat maybe meat production could be a less like concentration camps and return to natural raising, i dont know. WHat i do know is humans dont need meat in the quantities we eat them to be healthy, muuuch on the contrary i think. I also think reducing meat consumption can actually have a greater impact on the environment than we think. Just think about how many chickens you eat a year and all the resources it must take to raise those? I figure i used to eat about 50 chickens a year, anyone know how much grain it takes to raise 50 chickens in weight? the resources being used to feed the animals you plan to eat eventually can be used much more eficiently to produce foods that feed humans.
I used to be a blockhead and make fun of vegetarian etc but after giving it a try.... im pretty sure they got it right!

You should have been there!...
Glad I wasn't. My dad was a tunnel rat. They'd get stoned, throw an HE grenade in the hole, then send dad in headfirst with a knife in his teeth (all pirate style), a 0.45 in one hand, and a flashlight in the other to clear the tunnels he found. He only talked about it once or twice and would never eat rice. I'm pretty sure he thought he was back there when he took his own life a couple of years ago.

There's no way in hell I could be a tunnel rat, crawl into a hole after a VC. that took a lot of courage. My respect to your father, & your family for their sacrifice, salute'...
