I will be using 3 #8 pots with Scientific Soil along with a SCROG net. I will be keeping them short and busy as well. Plan on not letting them get any taller then a foot to a foot and a half. Also I have shot out the idea of the VHO. Between cost, efficiency and heat I don' think it will be worth it. I have also been reading some of what Pr0fesseur has been posting about bulb combo's and will be looking into changing the bulbs over the next grow or so.

What combo are you planning on running I am curious. I need to replace 4/8 of my bulbs and might try up something different. Right now I am running 50/50 veg-bloom 5700k-2700k

Good news

Cree is now making 2ft led tubes that are direct drop in

Not sure they have t5s just yet

No need to bypass ballasts

Sorry, I don't have a link

If interested just search for them

I have a space just big enough to put a 4ft 8 bulb with couple inches clearance. I have been breeding and have come up with a plant that would do good for 12/12 from seed. Shove a bunch of them in there.

What is a good mix of bulbs for that?

I have several cfl grows under my belt. I have noticed when i use a bigger mix of spectrums the plants look better.

To start off with im going to run the 4-6000k and the 4-3000k bulbs. After some more research id like to try more specific light combos along the line of what Pr0ffeseur has been talking about in the t5 club Thread.

I'd defer to the more experienced growers on specific bulbs, but you could try a couple in your fixture to go with your 6500K and 2700k bulbs. I think full spectrum is the way to go, like PetFlora said. I have a small cab with a 4 x 24" T5 for seedlings and cuttings using 6500k grow bulbs on a 24/0 schedule for the first week. After that I back off the light to 22/2, then 20/4, then 18/6 roughly 1 week apart. I top them a couple of times or so and let them grow to roughly a foot tall. Once they're growing solid, it's into the flower room.

The flower room has a 6 x 48" and a 4 x 48" fixture mounted together to form one 10 bulb fixture. First couple weeks in flower only the 6 bulb fixture is used. Then once they bush out the 4 light fixture gets turned on.

What strain are you running?

Its been a while since i have been on the boards and i am glad to see this thread still going. Need some advice for some fixtures. Have a 2x4x6 area and was interested in the the following units. These are all 4ft T5HO

VivaGrow VG 412 T5 Fluorescent Grow Light 3000K / 6500K $169 shipped with bulbs - Footprint 47"x21"x3"
Might be overkill but price was right and it would fit perfectly in space. Has switchable bulbs which is nice. Any input on this one would be appreciated.

6 Lamp T5 HO Fluorescent High Bay $130 shipped without bulbs - was thinking of using two of these if they would fit. These look like they are made well and reviews are good.

T5 Grow Light (4ft 8lamps) DL848S Ho Fluorescent Hydroponic Bloom Veg Daisy Chain with Bulbs $145 SHIPPED
Would be getting two of these that should fit in the space i need.

or the Quantam Badboy 8bulb fixture. - $150 without bulbs . Seems to be good quality but if the Vivagrow is decent quality, i would rather have the flexibility of more bulbs. Badboy T5 seems to get great reviews.

Not sure what genetics and heat will not be a problem so i am not too afraid of the extra heat the 16 bulbs will put out.

Like i said, i have been out of it for awhile and would appreciate any feedback or other fixture suggestions.

Thx

I do trust you and did research on them as they do look well built. I could put two 6 bulbs units in my space since they are only 11" in width, but really would like to have one fixture instead of two if possible. Thank you for getting back and nice grow. I used Sunleaves and few other fixtures in the past with great results as well but i am trying to get the best bang for the buck. Do you know if they make a 12bulb unit? I could not find it if so.
