I'm wondering when to start counting after I flipped lights. I've heard you should wait 10 to 20 days before counting Down the days to harvest. True?
I count the flowering time when I'm growing a new strain in case I like it and do run it again I'll have a log when I harvested. By doing that I can harvest the same strain later or earlier and compare on the next few runs on when it's at its bestwhat are you counting for???
A plant isn't flowering when you flip the switch there's a Transition period. Actual flowering is just that, when the plant begins to bud and develop flowers. If you start counting at flip and go by the breeders timeline your buds won't be fully ripenI do believe that the seed description for flower times starts when you flip to a 12/12 (or atleast 14/10). so if a strain says 9-10 weeks its from the change in light schedule. If you have bad conditions it can take longer for the plant to flower I imagine
i've been growing indoors for a good 12 yrs. i consider myself fairly experienced, always learning new things. i mailny use the trichomes to tell me when to harvest, but i look at the overall plant too. when the breeder says, "flower time, 65 days," i totally ignore that. since he has mondo experience with "his," strain, and prob. a near perfect environment, you'd be luck to get those numbers. plus, whose to say when he starts counting, and even if he told you, again, his experience/environment, make a lot of difference. so if you followed his suggested flower time and harvest, it may very well not be ready, or even be over ripened. but if you pay attention to the trichomes/bud condition, you'll know pretty much exactly when to cut them down. you could use his suggested flower time as a guideline though, and start checking your trichs more often then. regardless of what the breeder says, the plant is ready when, "it," tells you so. but, if i were to use counting, i would begin at the flip.I've NEVER heard of people to start counting after the "transition". As soon as you flip, the countdown begins. If you have a 8 week strain, you flower for 56 days straight after flipping the switch and that INCLUDES flushing. Ask any experienced grower and they will tell you that.
50% amber, really??? seems like a lot...Agreed that you want to cut down when you know they are ready just by looking at them. But I purchased seeds online(only 1 strain) that gave me a flower time of 63 days and it is right on point over 30 batches later. My buddies also purchased seeds(6 strains) from that same website and it is on point with ALL of the strains. No "transitioning" time, I have only ever heard of this on internet forums and never from the mouth of a professional grower.
Quoted the wrong person bro.50% amber, really??? seems like a lot...
ooops, sorry bro, lol.... i smoked too many amber trichs.Quoted the wrong person bro.
i don't know anyone that can, quote "know they are ready just by looking at them." maybe can tell they are overly ready. right on point? so breeder said 63 days, and it was, "BAM!" done/harvested in 63 days, really??? i don't agree with the transitioning theory either, but some people are as convinced of it's accuracy, just as you are. so you know a group of "professional," growers, and they "all," disagree with the transitioning? man, how many pro's are we talking about? when you say professional, growing is their profession by trade? i don't know any myself. (well, some bedroom growers, that don't have jobs, and grows support them completely. and they do pretty good.) you sound like you run with a pretty exclusive crowd of growers, do tell??? seriously!Agreed that you want to cut down when you know they are ready just by looking at them. But I purchased seeds online(only 1 strain) that gave me a flower time of 63 days and it is right on point over 30 batches later. When you say "30 batches," are you saying you've popped seeds of the same strain 30x, and harvested perfectly-finished plants every time at 63 days?! That's amazing, both the breeder and your grow room's consistency.... I purchased seeds online(only 1 strain) that gave me a flower time of 63 days and it is right on point over 30 batches later.
