If the oil there dried up mañana- we'd pack up all of our shit in a week and never go back regardless of isis, or any other bag of asses.

While we don't have a real military presence in Africa where terrible things happen every minute, rest assured if they discover resources we want, we'll "do the right thing" as a nation and allow major corporations to exploit these folks for a while. All under the watch of the US Armed Forces.
How is it that ^this^ seems so apparent to a bunch of stoners on a weed forum, but the general public is largely clueless (ignorant) of what drives our foreign policy??

are you not one that actually believe in chemtrails ?
LOL no! I just said it's my favorite of the conspiracy theories floating around currently. The "we never went to the moon" is still my all time favorite though.

They should stop with the mind control stuff though and stick to the weather manipulation conspiracy, it has more believability.

Edit: forgot I was replying to LF. London, that means I really do believe we went to the moon.

I blame the two-party system and the team mentality it naturally dictates.
would you stop crying and just run a viable candidate already? you're allowed ya know.

the only person you have to blame for the failure of a third party is yourself for favoring such screwy nutball shitsack candidates.

People have been claiming it is all about the oil for decades. WHEN ARE WE GOING TO GET THE OIL???

This has never proven true yet is constantly repeated as a mantra...

the oil does not need to come to the US, it just needs to flow in exchange for dollars, that's what keeps the dollar strong and that's what keeps the US empire strong

case in point, the pipeline crossing the US from Canada is mainly to facilitate export

US is an oil bearing nation, when China buys more, the petrodollar strengthens

Why do you say it as if it is a bad thing? Or maybe you don't. Remember we didn't make the nukes, we made the nukes fly. Iran and Pakistan have nukes, and so does Israel.

We have a need to be there, to keep Iran from rolling over Saud, and stopping, not our oil, we have ours.

This also about the trade, and Jihad was a problem long before oil was discovered. We cleaned out the Med of the Islamic Shipping Tax, so we own it. We protect it, oil or not.

So, no, this is not it. Africa is just land mass, not the center of all sea routes between Europe and Asia.

Yeah, ever since we liberated Libya from that awful Ghadaffi things have gotten so much better over there for them.

That's BS, you are saying the Tyranny of one leader is more clean and pretty than the tyranny of Jihad.
We painted the same picture in Baghdad. And they know we will paint this on Cairo, by withdrawing support of the Army.

We do this on purpose, don't you see?

Pffft.... We already get the oil. Our presence assures we have supply.
You do understand the lower oil prices are the result of fracking and new sources in the USA right?

So we went over there and fought a series of wars so we would have access to a commodity that is traded globally on the open market???

The theory still doesnt hold water and it has been DECADES since it was suggested.

Bush comes from an oil family with roots in Texas. They would have BENEFITTED by reduced markets. *sigh* People keep repeating what they hear without evaluating it for common sense.
