Going Hydro for the spring!

Dear Growers, Friends, and fellow Cannabis Cannibal's,

As the subject states, I'm growing Hydroponicly this spring season. I have never done THIS before, although I do have several grows under my belt. (some successful and others not so) My budget is far from large but I do not mind shelling out the green if its sure to reciprocate itself. What i'm looking for is a nutrient line; base, additives, boosters, or stimulants. I've done some research, (R.I.U forums included) but I'd truly appreciate someone else's opinion on
MY situation. I'd like to buy enough for only one complete cycle so i can gain information to make a more "informed" purchase that suits my growing needs.
In advance, Let me just say thank you for your invaluable knowledge.

Set up I plan on running:
---------------------

(Wonder Woman will be my first lady)

-Its going to be a DWC fashioned out of a 18 gallon tote, (I'm assuming that would mean an 8 gallon res?)
-Hydroton for medium.
(Not sure if it's going to be 6 or 8 plant's I haven't bought my pots yet, suggestions? size? quantity?)
-30-60 Gallon Air pump with two air stones.
(one for each side of the res.)
-1 600 watt HPS and 3 smaller 55watt CFL's.
-I only have one 6 in. fan in there right now but im going to get another, probably 10-12 in. Because i had some FoxTailing with my last grow. (Lemon Haze)
((Almost forgot to mention, this is a closet grow but space isn't TOO big of an issue because the closet is pretty LARGE ))

I have some nutrients from my past grow but i REALLY want to break away from Fox Farm, (FF). Nothing personal against them, I've had pretty good results in the past. I just want to get away from synthetics.

-KangaRoots-FF
-TigerBloom-FF
-BeastiBloomz-FF
-ChaChing-FF
-Fish & Seaweed-NH
ADDITIVES---
-Giberellic Acid
-Raw Fulvic
-Humic acid

Once again, Thank you for your input and advice.

One LAST thing...
Please keep criticism constructive...
Everyone was new once!
Happy Growing!!!

All you need is a good base nute. Some silica. That's about it for nutes. Don't waste money buying into the "I need 10 bottles to grow good plants" hype. You could do 2 smaller totes with 2 plants in each as well. Maybe 10 gallon totes or something. Maybe 3 plants per tote max. Make sure it's the same strain as well. I just grew these using one base nute and silica (don't tell the advanced nutrients fan boys that though ;) )
Good nutes:
Dynagro foliage pro
Maxigro & maxibloom
Veg+bloom (kinda pricey but simple)
Dynagro protekt (silica) downloadfile-1.jpeg

Thank you all so much so far with your help and advice. im opting for 4 5in pots with this rez. (i still grow in soil, i just REALLY want to see if there's a discernable difference in yield/potency with hydro)

What are you planting in, Kind Sir?

Is it "in" or "for?"

18 gal for 6-8 plants is not too much. But, to put 6-8 plants roots IN a 18 gal tote. It can't be done.

it would be "in", im only using ONE 18 gallon tote for now to try and get things figured out. Once i get things "dialed in" there's room for expansion. I decided to go with 4 5in net cups "inside" the tote. (i apologize for any confusion)

Well, you need 2 foot spacing on center.

You could do a sog if you want. I used to run 36 plants in a 3.5x3.5 table. When there's a will there's a way as my old man used to say :p

You mean I have to keep 2 feet of space between the middle? or between all of the lady's?

Sorry, they need their own square foot, I mean, minimum. So, a bucket is about 1 foot across. So, 1 foot on center is minimum, for light and air. they can overlap each other. That is up to around 4 foot tall. After that more spacing.

I love dynagro. I don't have any feeding schedules I use, I kind of just go with the flow of what the plants are telling me. I start out at low ppm and gradually increase nutes over the course of the grow.

If you search for the riu user "homebrewer", he has a few threads using dyna gro and dynagro foliage plus. I'm pretty sure he has some feeding schedules for dyna as well. But all plants are different, so I can never follow a schedule, my last grow I topped out at 950ppm in flower and usually I'm at 1100ppm or more, so my schedules wouldn't be very accurate.

So you teally think Dyna-gro is the way to go? If you could @AlphaPhase , please share your feeding regime with me?
I'm running Maxigro vs DynaGro vs Jack's right now. The maxigro and dynagro are in the same room on Sour D clones. The Jacks is in another room with different strains. All 3 seem to work fine, but both Jacks and DynaGro seem to have more PH drift. I'm adjusting those rez's daily or every other where the maxigro doesn't shift much so I only adjust with top off.

The Maxigro is beating the DynaGro side by side, but that is most likely due to a PH related deficiency from the swings in the DynaGro during the first week.
