This looks like a credible news story in a credible newspaper that was written by a black journalist. I have no problem at all with this story. It was effective and well-written.

However, I wonder how an equally credible story written by a white journalist about the looting in Ferguson would have been received.

As long as you know that there was not one thing that happened under the rebel flag that didnt happen under the "Ole Glory".
That has always been my issue with banning flags. If you are going to ban a flag, the USA flag should be the very first one banned because everything bad has happened underneath that red.white.blue striped and starred flag.

If anything they should agree with me. There has been nothing done under the rebel flag that wasnt done under the American flag, and in most cases you could probably find more and much more often under the American flag.
