I've found most judges to be bereft of ethics. It is a requirement of the job (usually) to favor the law even when it is clearly an unethical law. Of course they don't apply the same standard to everybody either.


I'd say you are "enslaved" or "owned" to the same level as you are taxed. For instance, if the fruit of ALL of your labor is controlled by another person, you are clearly a slave to them. Logic insists that is so. Then it follows that if a percentage less than all of your labor is taxed...that would be the level of their ownership over you.

I disagree. Your judge was rationalizing his behavior when he harmed otherwise peaceful people.

Statutory laws are man made things that have no automatic basis in reason. Some follow natural law and prohibit things that should be prohibited, such as fraud, murder and theft etc. some do not. Laws that harm a peaceful person or deprive a peaceful person of self determination should be ignored.

It was unlawful to help a runaway slave or hide a jew in your attic, I'd have broken those laws every opportunity I had. Socrates was not infallible.

Obedience to something legal, yet wrong, is still obedience to something wrong.

I dont think you understand the con. The school takes most of the money and the rest is spent in on college expenses. Maybe she nets a small amount but the school is responsible. I remember a story about one of those schools recruiting the homeless, by getting them to take out massive student loans with the promise of a weekly stipend.

That's what happens when force (coercive government) replaces peaceful choice (free market).

Absent the proper feedback signals that doing a good job or doing a bad job sends (like in a free market) the bureaucrat is operating blindly and has no motivation to provide real customer satisfaction.

A free market aligns the interest of the service provider and the customer, a bureaucracy does not.

I am experiencing it right now. Somehow I got a hold on my account that from last years medical insurance, that is not letting me be a full timer right now, so no state help. Which means I have to wait til next year. I would have finished this year tho.

Try making a complaint to any Govt. agency..you're lucky if you can even get in contact with them 90% of the time. I've been told "write your rep", you know what happens..you get a form letter sent back by some intern. It's virtually impossible to get any recourse when dealing with govt as an individual. Until we as a collective stop turning our eyes to the crap that goes on we're all gonna get screwed.

i received an email from ACA, they've re-opened health from now until 4/30 in order for students who are not covered under their parents, they need to get coverage or pay $325 taken out of your income tax..and if you have no income tax? we'll then they'll take it out of your loan..which is weird because all the loans state you are not allowed to use loan money for anything else other than school related.

The reason why is government by its nature isn't reason, it's force. You can't have a system that relies for its very existence on force also be reasonable, its impossible.

One of the biggest reasons most people haven't done anything is the cards are stacked and people are molded to be ignorant by design. Government schools teach obedience, rather than how to think. That is their purpose. People erroneously believe they need a coercive government to protect them from people that might use coercion against them. Which is kind of ironic and circular.

Asking government to spank itself won't help either.
It's like when a cop shoots a person. What do they do? They have an internal investigation and miraculously find they have done no wrong.

By the time I had the money, I couldnt find anymore classes to fill the schedule. But, I have a gripe with my advisor because it is a known fact that I was going to surpass the amount with the next aid drop. He even told me this, but didnt answer, so why was the hold not allowing me to add classes?
I am not saying I am not partly at fault, I could have just registered for the whole term from the start. But I had a lot of other things that needed balancing out, so I chose to wait to register until after I knew I would have the transportation money. My question is, if I am already scheduled to get a drop, why would a hold (that can only be removed by one person) stop me?

It wasn't stated, it was implied. Positive reinforcement for bad actions. Should have just let it fall apart. Should have let car makers fall on their face to. We would be better for it.
