mylar for my growroom?

So im on a pretty tight budget here and im tryin to save a couple bux by using mylar instead of orca film or pamda film. Ive read about it creating hot spots and uneven light distribution but i figure since im in such a small grow "room" AKA my closet haha i figure an oscilating fan and opening it up for a moment a couple times a day should take care of hotspots so im wondering if it would make a huge difference in the health of my plants and quality of my bud at the end of the grow.

Mylar is a far better choice anyway. White doesn't reflect all wavelengths equally. If you ever want to run UVB (and you should) then I highly recommend you use mylar and aluminum reflectors for everything, no white reflectors.

Mylar, except if it is mounted tight as a drum, will throw your light all over the place, instead of focusing on the plant. White paint on something is very good. What I use is insulated foam board, the stuff with the shiny side. It comes in different thickness, depending on your needs. Excellent stuff as far as reflection. Try it, it is cheap and beats Mylar, definitely.

Not BS, and it's dirt cheap, lol.

No bigger buds though, just more resin.

Used it, didn't impress me. You have to get the light close to the plant, to be effective, and in my opinion, just dealing with standard lighting is enough, instead of fucking around with that stuff.

The how close part is a myth. If you use mylar reflectors on the walls UVB strength will be no different if bulbs are 4ft up or 4in up. My UVB (tanning bulbs) is mounted at the same height as my HID and LEDs. It amazes me how many people think light gets weaker with distance, that is false, light just spreads out as it travels further, with reflectors blocking it from spreading any further, light doesn't decrease once it reaches the distance to the walls, except by the 2% loss per contact with the mylar.

I liked the ones I had, but they weren't ideal for the job. I liked them because of their weakness, the ones I had you could see through when the lights were on, made it very convenient to monitor the plants without blinding myself, but also wasted a fair amount of light. I would make sure you don't get thin ones like that if you go with space/emergency blankets.

But would u choose mylar over emergency blankets?
