Can led compete with hid

Yeah bro I live way north. I also use a lung room to dissipate the heat from those lamps without losing it all completely. This ensures I retain some radiant heat from the bulbs which I believe the plants enjoy. When the bare mv bulb goes on I just massively up extraction to ensure my temps can still drop to 18'c for the last 3 weeks. That's what I'm getting at about the leds. I probably would have bought one long ago if it wasn't for all the sketchy information and test results on them, makes it seem like there is something to hide. Now I'm that far gone in producing par with hids the only way I'd switch to led would be for more yield.
With the colder climate,HID is good choice for you but that set up in a hot climate would cost a lot to keep cool. If you want to lose some of your heat I would suggest a more efficient UV source and CMH.

Listen lads I don't want this to become childish I'm not trying to dispute the fact that LEDs are brilliant grow lights. I Bet most you led guys would think I'd wanna hear you cave and say hid is better, this is not true I could have quite easily posted this thread in another area and be met with answers like "no to led" "down witht he diode" and such. I just want real information and here seems the best place to get it.

well, we already know, it's undisputed that in a small space, you can grow really good pot with a 600w mh/hps. So it's up to us led growers to prove we can grow superior pot with an led.

Yeap ,in automobile head-lights ,they surely do ...
Other than that ,nope.

You do not want to talk about any nutritional substances of edible fruits/leaves
and the potency of medicinal herbs ,when grown in artificial environments under HID lights versus LEDs ...
Not with me ,at least ....

I've at my arsenal hundreds of researches and papers ,to dismantle any of possible arguments ...
So...
Be cautious on how you will-if you wish so- proceed further on this conversation ,brother ...
HIDs do grow edible and/or medicinal plants ...
And in some cases with better yields than of LEDs ..
But ...without taste ,aroma ,anti-oxidants ,vitamins ,flavonoids,terpenes ,THC ! , etc ...

They do grow "empty " vegetables ,fruits and flowers ...

Compete with solid state lighting ?
Not even close enough ...

Your turn ..

Cheers.
:fire:
Really? So all the buds I've grown under hps have been flavorless, odorless and devoid of thc? LMFAO!

In this subforum that's kind of like asking a question in an institution for the mentally insane and still expect a normal response. Or going to a church and expecting logical responses.

Since the butthurt led shills and fanboys are begging for my presence let me just throw in my two cents...

Can led compete with hid?
No, what a silly question. How many professional quantity and quality growers do you think grow under LED instead of HID? It can be a better alternative for certain specific situations but in general no, only in the head of the pretengineers and LED shills who think they qualify to design horticulture lighting. It's comparing apples to oranges though...comparing streetlights to professional horticulture lighting.

The trolls in this forum aren't even growers, stoners, just trolls growing epeen based on meaningless and imaginary numbers. Try one of the other large mj forums or even your local grow shop for more professional and unbiassed advice, this subforum failed.

You won't get real information here, just opinions. LED or HID, it doesn't matter if you have your shit dialed in.

I thought it was just me that figured this was one of the worst subforums on RIU...with the resident Cree/Home Depot shill that is relentless with this continuous spewing of half truths

HPS vs CXA3070/CXB3070 = a close fight, both having advantages. Cost/Availability/Convenience go to the HPS. CXA has advantage on distribution, radiant heat (less IR), and sleeker form factor leaving more grow space.

MH vs CXA3070/CXB3070 = No where near as close, LED is more efficient (less heat, more light), but also costs much much more and will take 3+ years to pay for itself on utility savings.

There is no best solution, everything has it's place. I run a mix of LED, CMH, HPS, and Tanning bulbs. Mixing is where it's at.

You aren't interested in learning. You already have the answers. So I've heard you say. I gave you a shot. Looked at your photo album. You didn't have anything that looked like this....

I want to grow this. Right here. Im not going to learn how to do it indoors by listening to you. Stay average, pleb.

Sorry if you weren't directing that to me,just a reflex to the smell of cat piss I guess.
I'm referring to the people under the age of 20. For you guys to talk shit about Sativie is childish shit. Dude is super knowledgeable about cannabis and I would take advice from him before any of these kids that have not put in years of their own work.
