Hey Bluey, I live somewhere that doesn't reach any optimal temp outside a couple of weeks in high summer. Nobody I know uses LED.. besides two friends who saw the potential (or just wanted to grow) and I helped throw a (basic, white cob) fixture together for them..
I'm not really sure about final efficiency, it's brought more light control and heat 'spread', I still need heating (a 50W G/house tube) most of the year for faster growth i'm finding (still only in low 20's in winter with that). Still, compared to HPS heat (which I needed to constantly over-vent) the LED is more efficient. I'm still very much experimenting (after 5 LED grows). I'm not sure I can help, it's hard to grasp your question, you should be able to get max yield from whatever light source? LED is likely still more efficient, insulated space, smaller 'lung room', slower air recycling. Very tempting to stick with the bulb grows all said and done, less control the downside. I did entertain the notion of using water cooling and dumping the heat into a reservoir in the base of the cab (also have a tall, small space)... but then the recycled air is still acting as the heat sink. Good luck brother!

Modern cobs are probably the best light source available for plants indoors at this time. Hids are time tested and proven to yield phenomenal results for very little money spent.
But leds are the luxury units. Properly built and cooled no other lighting source can hold a candle to led.As long as you have deep pockets.

Sorry for the late reply it's my sons 24th B-day. I'm loved and hated on here because I say what I feel. I use to grow for a dispensary using HPS and I've used lesser quality leds with good results but the area you gave me I would go led and not look back and if you can make one I'd suggest do it or buy an A51.

Onyx grow is probably more suited for people with relatively small areas that can not fit a full sized HID rig. It really pales in comparison to DIY and selecting top bin components, underdriving the current, and really throwing money into aluminum and better fans.
At the moment, the only led setups I would spend my own money on would be vero or cxa/cxb DIY. I wasn't convinced by the results of red+blue cheap junk, so I never bothered to spend my own money. I was convinced by the results of warm white cxa/cxb and vero, put my money into it, and am still happy with the results. I'd be a hypocrite to advise anyone to buy R+B junk panels over anything.

Just curious but in that picture are you running 1680 watts of power? 413+1267? I do like the way the DIY LEDs are going with the COB technology but I need to improve my soldering skills up before I go at that. Cheers.

CXA's have solderless holders available,so no need if you go with them.

Like Captain said CXA and B's have the same holders where you do not need to solder

CXA's are the Cree COBs. You will need to drill and tap two holes into the heatsink to use the solderless holders and you can use crimp style connectors for the rest of the wiring,so no soldering at all.

And I know (for me) to maintain your 79F recycled would be/Was a major consideration. 250/500W radiator in winter.

I have them turned down winter I turn them up and I can really kick ass with them. Sorry if I come off like a dick but I'm not. I haven't told everything I know on here. Since I was 14 about organic growing (I'm talking about fruits and veggies) and how to make a proper compost.
