I love this photo, it's not just police violence people are venting about.

I thought I saw the drudge report tweet on your postnearly 4000 peaceful protesters, a few dozen troublemakers, and the right wing media goes crazy with "race riot" headlines.
less reported is the fact that many protesters put themselves in harm's way to do the job the police were supposed to be doing in the first place.

Plenty of Freddie Gray protestors attempted to quell the violence yesterday. This woman tried to protect cop cars.
and then there is of course the obvious and ugly racial double standard in riot reporting.

and unfortunately last, but the opposite of least, is the ignored problem that lit the whole fuse.

Police in Baltimore killed more unarmed people than 93 of the 100 largest US cities. None were white. #FreddieGray http://mappingpoliceviolence.org/cities

after being detained for 45 minutes in police custody, freddie gray had his spinal cord 80% severed. think about that. then he was denied medical care for a prolonged period of time.
but let's get in a hissy fit about a few troublemakers smashing some lifeless property.
Nice little meme. Why didn't he say "Police officers murder more americans." ? Because he can't. It just looks better
Semantics...how many deaths by "terrorists" were justified? Like Einstein said..it's all relative..it's all a matter of perception. Live somewhere you are under constant threat of violence, and see how you react. If I was getting harassed by cops on a daily/weekly basis, I'd be pissed and fight back. I don't have many interactions with police, but the few I've had have left a bitter taste in my mouth, enough to sit back and watch this happen, with a small amount of gleeNice little meme. How many of these deaths were justified?
Hmmm you seem like a racist person towards black people.Getting Nukes for Iran is the Black mans concern right now, not his own,....say it, say it all........
It's not semantics. It's a deliberate distortion of the truth. It's propaganda. Comparing terrorism deaths to deaths in the name of public safety is absurd.Semantics...how many deaths by "terrorists" were justified? BTW..I have family that are police/military..so it's not like I don't see both sides. Every...EVERY..person I'm my family that is involved with those professions has told me they know of multiple people who "work outside the lines", but they turn a blind eye..they know I'll have no remorse when someone puts a piece of lead in them, I've told them to their face. No such thing as a good cop/serviceman if they turn their back to the problem...
How is beating an already subdued person anything to do with public safety? How is shooting an unarmed man who is not a threat because he is running AWAY from you helping public safety? How is shooting a dog fenced in a yard a matter of public safety? How does 6 cops piling on top of one person already on the ground a matter of public safety? How is violating a persons 4th amendment right to unreasonable search and seizure a matter of public safety? It's not semantics. It's a deliberate distortion of the truth. It's propaganda. Dude, I'm not justifying any of these actions. So, ALL police deaths were murder? Then why didn't Snowden say so? You gave some examples. Fine. Arrest the no-neck pigs and throw away the key. I'm with ya. But don't make the assumption that all of them do so. It's just plain stupid to make the comparison like Snowden did.How is beating an already subdued person anything to do with public safety? That is police propaganda...obey and conform and you have nothing to worry about..now let me see your papers..

And what is a "justified" killing? A guy that has a rap sheet of drug offense running from police..a non violent criminal? like this:
I have friends with rap sheets that are similar..ya know why..picked up with a bag of weed and a bag of coke..2 different drugs in 2 different bags = intent to distribute. I'd be willing to bet there are quite a few members on here with similar records..is that justification for police to kill them if they don't comply with an order? Since when do police have the right to kill because they don't know what the circumstances of a situation are? That's the real problem with police, they turn directly to force and violence, rather than try to deescalate a situation. How many mentally disabled people have been maimed or murdered because police resort to violence when their commands are not met. does someone with Down syndrome, hearing problems, mental capacity of a 6yr old deserve that? I bet you believe if your not doing anything wrong you have nothing to worry about, just follow their orders..are you willing to let police do weekly searches of your house..because you have nothing to fear..you don't do anything wrong..same logic.

Sorry for going overboard, but the issue of police overstepping their authority hits home..I was almost charged with 2 felonies( kidnapping.grand theft auto) because I called the police on someone trespassing ,destructively, on MY property...ya know why..they were 2 cute 20-something girls. They drove on my lawn, left tire ruts..just to go to a yard sale down the street. I called to have the vehicle removed from my property, i didn't know who's it was and no one was around. I got the 5th degree from the police, ran MY license, wouldn't let me have access to MY vehicle, which was parked on MY property, got physical poking me in the chest and pushing me when i questioned them. When the 2 girls finally showed up, the cops were friendly with them, never questioned then, looked at their licenses..nothing.. allowed them to get in their vehicle, turn around on my lawn..leaving more ruts..and leave without so much as a " you really shouldn't have done this"..then I was threatened with the kidnapping/theft charges, told i could be held for 24hrs without charge and then told if they have to deal with me for "ANYTHING" - heavily emphasized- they would write up every charge they could...fuck the police!Nice edit
All this because I said Snowdens' statement was skewed. Wow.
I don't believe the fear is unwarranted. From an early age I was wary of police encounters...probably around 10-12 years old. Even thought I was always taught police were the people to go to for help, that you could always trust police, there was always a sense of..IDK.....caution?, when dealing with them. I grew up in a low crime suburban neighborhood, yet people still acted different when dealing with police. Why is that? It's a part of our culture, we acknowledge these people have a certain amount of power over us yet allow them to abuse it against us. Some people willingly advocate for it..Nothing like a little media generated fear that reveals a lot of racism.

..the fact that no MSM outlet will focus on the police abuse of authority issue, but jumps right to race issues, disgusts me. It helps neither cause.
