I bought a 300w Vipar off of Ebay about 18 months ago. Bulbs kept burning out, they wanted to charge me for individual bulbs for replacements, $0.66 per bulb, and $10-something for shipping from China, and have me solder it myself... I bought the 3w bulbs from Ebay and fixed it myself for less than $1 per bulb. I used to use a 400w HPS, well, still do, and it did way better than the Vipar watt for watt.

Only reason I am still using it, I want to get my money's worth out of it. It's not easy. My 4 or so runs with it, I'm averaging 0.35 grams per watt. I get double that with my HPS. 0.6-0.8 is normal for me.

So yes, Vipar does suck.

It's about that time... I'm looking for something new, I do have a limited budget. I'm an old man, almost 70. I'll be 67 next month, my funding is pretty low.

What can I get for 500ish that will fill my 3x3 up all the way? Is there a such LED? Or is HPS it for my price range?

That Vipar drew 280ish, and I've never got more than 100 grams from it. Quality was fine, density was no different than my 400w HPS, it just took more watts to do it.

I would start out filling half that area 18in x 36 in! And use the viper on the other side till the 2nd run! Area51 has the full cycle RWs that are on sale. He has the 75 for $199 and the 150 for$398. Multiple units are the way to go. I wouldf buy 2 rw75! To see how you like em. 4 plants in a 3x3 with a 75 over each one. I use the rw and love them.

$500 and 3'x3'? Sounds like a good job for a 315W CDM.

Similar experience my buddy had with htg except they kept fixing the lights for him. On 400w HPS i ran in a small armoire(2.5x3x6) back in college I was averaging pretty much the sane .7-.8 g/w. Used a 6" fan to cool that space. With the the 4x4 led tent and 650w only using a 4" fan and with both a51 and cobs in the area combined run ~1.3g/w average. With just the a51 was around 1. I was so worried about having the same experience you did after all my digging. sucks man. Hopefully more people see posts like yours and buy quality instead of having the same headache and let down. Shit like that blows goats man.

Why wouldn't u call it a 300 watt then instead of trying to sell it to growers as a 900 watt! Your shitbox couldn't even compete with a 250hps! douchebag! I use quality LED in my tent! There are plenty of pepes on here that agree that Vipar/Platinum are inferior units to there counterparts! That is fact! Woofy!
