You're making the (highly erroneous) presumption that our justice system is perfect, that no innocent man or woman may be found guilty. Hard labor is plenty for me, and I'd rather send a criminal free than allow my government to commit the crime of condemning an innocent man to pay the ultimate, and irreversible, price.By abolishing the death penalty we, as a society, are effectively saying that there is no crime which can be committed that warrants death. This is atrocious, this lack of regard for innocence versus the beasts. If you, or any human, were raped and murdered, god forbid, I'd hope the "let the punishment fit the crime" mantra would be employed, and I'd want to have the option of seeing it on national TV. "This is what happens to evil, when we catch you." We have become a nation of sissies.
Civilized? Do you know the company we, the U.S., keep with regard to implementation of the DP? Many of the countries who do as we do are those very same Muslim countries you decry so vehemently. Is that a coincidence? I don't think so.Hypothetically, if it was by brother, the rapist murderer, I'd do it myself, if I found out first. Really fuck 'em up, seriously. And then turn him over to the cops barely alive. I'd hope he did the same to me if the position was reversed. Some crimes are so, fucked, it has to be an option for punishment, death. No, I wouldn't "want" to, but if it is occurring, why pretend like it isn't. I believe it is a necessity in civilized societies, severe punishment for severe crime, and publicizing the punishment would only reinforce the popular sentiment that this is absolutely, unequivocally, unacceptable. This is one of the few subjects that genuinly angers me.
