It doesn't have to be made by sun systems. Any air cooled sealed hood will do. You can find the 1000watt hoods around 60-100$ on amazon i believe. Unless your closet is 5x5 or 4x5 i would just shoot for the 600watt. You use almost half the power and loose only 50'000 lumens. 90,000 lumens in a 3x4 would be good as long as your girls dont stretch closer then 10" to the hood.

Yield lab, ipower, apollo or another brand? So far only yield lab has the 1000w on amazon.

edit actually i cant find a 1000w apollo maybe it was ipower or another brand that has the upgradable hoods.. i have to check in a little bit

I looked it up today. Not good at adding links. I went under 600 watter and just clicked under watts and went to 1000 watts.

Type in Apollo horticulture ballast combo. It'll bring up the 600 watt version. Go to size and change it to the 1000 watt. It costs $249.95. Sorry for not giving a link. My phone has difficulty posting it. If anyone can help me out plz help.

oh ok got u, just got home so im looking it up right now.

So is the cool tube that comes with it adequate enough? or should i look to upgrade it.

My closet grow already gets hot with just the CFLs, i was at 90F a few weeks ago before i figured out how to get the temps down to 78-82F

So heres the one im thinking about going with,saving it in the thread so i can come back later to purchase. any last thoughts from u guys before i give it the final go?

They have a cool tube as well as air cooled. I've never run a cool tube but have heard it run cooler than air cooled but doesn't have the same spread/coverage. But I'm sure either will do the job well.
About heat. Well I'm using a 1000 watt in a basement and on full power it seems to run about 10-12 degrees higher than room temp. I'd just try to keep my room temp around 70 and you should be fine. Worse comes to worse try to run the air conditioner for short spurts at a time. Or get a small portable one off craigs list and put it in there. First try it at half power (500 watt) and see if you can up it.

Oh yeah, they make some nice stuff ive heard. Pretty cheap but its still $100 more then apollos 1000w systems. I just dont know if its worth the extra $100. Well let me rephrase that im sure its better quality im not sure if im ready to pay that much yet. $250 sounds alot better then 360 + tax and shipping. (amazon offering free shipping)

I know your looking for best price... but I run a lumatek lk1000 with a blockbuster hood amd hortilux 1000w super hps. About 500 for the setup give or take. If your going for 2 lights don't get the dual ballast. If it goes. Both your lights do.

Dude I'm baked, if not I would post links. Have you tried eBay? They definitely have options as well. Try home depot .com as well. They have everything hydro. Including dwc buckets e&f all that you would need. And you can maybe even pick it up there. I looked into them and I like home depot. They don't come off as hydro, but the way the MMJ business is looking, everyone wants a peace at us. They even have free shipping to store for discreet purposes. Or store pick up. Like I said, don't just stick to one main source, if you're going to be spending hundreds of dollars.have you tried calculating everything seperatly? Maybe there are even better deals like that. Did you want just a regular duct fan? They have regulars for 30 basically anywhere, 40 tops. Ballast 125 top. 100$ for a solid ballast. Bulb $35 1000w apollo. Reflector 70 tops. Tubing and all extra vent stuff. 20$ tops. Its all about deals that are reasonable. What type of reflector did you decide on? Maybe I can help you find one.

As far as the 1k HID and cooling, all i can say is you probably dont want to cheap out on duct fans. Especially with a 1k in a closet in an already hot environment.

Can you explain a little more to me? Im super newb when it comes to HiD lighting. I honestly have no clue what you mean by duct fan, and i want to get this right before i decide on anything. By duct fan, does that have anything to do with the cool tube?

dont mind my ghetto work. i have 2 exhaust, one from the grow room and one from the HID hood, the cool tube works the same way. that ghetto cardboard in my pic, just think of that as your attic. i also have 2 intakes. one for the room and the other for the hood. the 1K needs full on dedicated cooling, dont use your grow room air to cool the light, use the air from outside of your closet. what i mean my duct fan is "cooling fan". 20150514_215550.jpg 20150514_215559.jpg i have 4 255CFM 120MM fans. 2 for the hood and 2 for the room. you can only see the main room exhaust fan in one of the pics
