Thanks! Im definitely blessed to have such a long grow season here. The main challenges I face are pests, and the drought. The pests are insane in California, partly because we don't get the freezing winters to knock them back, and then we have such a huge concentration of growers, passing the pest problems around. It seems like everyone is battling russets and broad mites this last couple of seasons. Im paranoid, spraying constantly.Very impressive, MjMama. Glad to have you aboard. I'm an organic outdoor grower as well. Problem is, I'm stuck up here right next to the Adirondacks and we're still getting frost at night.
I'd love to be out there with you. I'm really handy to have around the house, I don't eat much and I do windows every other weekend ........... Once again, glad to have you here and "Thank You" for sharing with us. Yours truly ..... Frosted in NY.
I have a few tricks up my sleeve for the drought.I buried lots of dead wood in my raised beds to help retain water. Then I also planted clover as a cover crop and spread mulch. Anything I can do to save water so the growers don't get blamed for using it all.
