so i have a quick question....in a 8x4 tent with 6.5 hieght which is better? 2 600s or 2 1000s with 800cfm fan.....when i say better i mean safer for the plants and better for yield/quality.
sorry to hijack but seemed good place to ask.
Three 600s at least. 2 won't be enough. I did that in a tent with a portable ac. Great results.

Word.
I started growing indoor before you could air cool lights like now. And no inline fans either or charcoal filters, etc. The invention of air cooled hoods really changed things for obvious reasons.
I choose to air cool my regular hps's when I can. It definately helps keep shit cool, and reduces power costs in a sealed GR. straight up.
Obviously if I lived in a cold climate, I wouldn't air cool though.
Why not? It works just as well.

I''m not sure what part you're asking "why not?" about.
If it's about why I usually don't air cool hoods in freezing/cold climates l, let me explain:
In a sealed GR, if the source air is freezing(like how it gets where I live in the winter), it can make the hoods rain from condensation, even with RH levels around 40% within the room. Been there, done it many times. I NO LIKEY.
In a regularly ventilated room, if the outside air is that cold, why air cool lights? Set it up rite, you don't need to,IMO.
When outside temps are cool/cold, hell, even Stevie wonder could setup and pull off a good crop:-D easy peasy.
