Well, he is missing the tips of 2 fingers after an accident on HIS LAST DAY OF WORK.10 Tony Iommi , not for technical proficiency but for creating a genre with his riffs .
Yeah but Dire Straits is boring for me to listen to LOL. Does this list have to include charisma as well as technique? Or are we talking strictly guitarists who changed the way the instrument/music is played?Right!!! Gilmour and Knopfler, both awesome guitarists. Mark Knopfler may (and that's a big may) be the best guitarists ever... especially for technique.
I know this thread will be moved to another section at some point but T&T gets more action, just like @mainliner's mom's anus does when compared to her vagina.
Ok, mine changes all the time but here it goes:

3)Slash
4)BB King

7)Brian May
8.Joe Satriani
9)Tom Morello
10)Eddie Van Halen
Anybody who's seen the movie Road House should recognize him. He played like that because as a child that's just how he started and simply got used to doing it like that.Anyone outside of Canada heard of Jeff Healey?
Ive never seen anyone play like this.
I think you illustrated a good point & a question i allmost posed to the group before posting my list .Yeah but Dire Straits is boring for me to listen to LOL. Does this list have to include charisma as well as technique? Or are we talking strictly guitarists who changed the way the instrument/music is played?
Does Belew get extra points for being an awesome guy? If so, you can take them from Fripp for being a bit of an ass-burger.I love your list , its good to see somebody knows who paco & Mclaughlin are .

Sungha Jung just may be the, or one of the, best living guitarists. I hadn't thought of him. Amazing.
Miles Davis was another one of those " how dare you bother me " dudes .Does Belew get extra points for being an awesome guy? If so, you can take them from Fripp for being a bit of an ass-burger.
