Quick question about flushing... I normally don't do it, this batch kinda has this hay taste but smells great. I dried it out like I normally do. Well vented area, air flow was directed away from the buds when they were hanging. I aim it at the wall about 6 feet away so it circulate.this batch cured for about 30 days as well. Could it be that I didn't flush?

Has to do with your drying.

I don't believe flushing causes hay smell. Something must have been different. Have you ever grown this strain before?

yes, ive cropped this twice already and within 30 days it had a nice taste. basically what i do is i chop the stems at the main stem, then i clip the fan leaves. i let it sit in a dark closet hanging on wire with a fan aiming at a wall so the air circulates around the room. the fan is about 6 feet away from the buds. once they've sat there for 24 hours i start to trim all the other shit that makes up your shake at the end. i let them sit anywhere from 4-10 days (depending on the strain) or until the stems bend similar to a greenstick fracture without snapping off. once that's complete i cut the nugs off the dried stems and throw the buds into jars (about 7grs in each jar) i leave the jars open 8 hrs in the mornings (until i return from work) then i burp them around 10pm and dont open them up again until the morning around 7:15am. i do this anywhere from 30-60 days again depending on the strain. this strain is seedmens white widow fem. i fed them once and i watered about 2-3 times a week as well or whenever they show signs of needing water. idk what i did wrong ive been using these exact steps my whole growing career. any ideas?

Do you have a hygrometer? Did you leave it open for eight hours?

I'm pretty sure you're supposed to burp for 30 min to 1 hr a day but leave it closed to create a mid-humidity (60-65%) environment.

yeah, im in florida... all we have is humidity... and yes i try to keep my RH at 65% at all times...

has to do more with harvesting too early or bad jar curing more than anything when you get hay smell . do you use chemical lines when you grow or amended soil?? if you use chemical lines why the heck don't you flush?

if you haven't jared them throw them in a jar for 2-3 weeks open the jar once a day once every other day it will help rid the hay smell

I believe he was talking about taste not smell. White Widow is not one of the most tasty smokes I've tried.

yeah.. no shit chemicals = must flush.. you'd be stupid not to flush buds when you use chemical regimens.. my point wasn't that.

This.

You're supposed to close the jars and leave them closed and only open them for 30 min to an hour to aerate and then re-close. Not sure why you're keeping it open for 8 hours at a time?

You r leaving the jars open far too long.......seal in the jar and leave them to do their thing only opening once a day for 15-30 mins.........twice a day for 10 mins if you can't help yourself......

yeah.. where the fuck did this 8hr open jar come from? fuck if you keeping it open 8 hours a day you might as well hang the fuckers one more week with no jar then jar them and never burp...

The smell is from over drying it normally. Don't leave the jars open for 8 hours that is basically drying the weed in a jar no real difference from hanging it. Burp once a day for the first week then once a week after that. Fuck hygrometers get humidity packs and keep one in each jar they work wonders and there about 80 cents a piece. If you get some of the humidity packs and re jar the the weed you may be able to save it but it's hard to bring back bud that has been over dried. Good luck man.
