Your thoughts on defoliation?

hey again . . .

ime . . . the earlier the better, leaving defoliation till week four, you are removing storage facilities, if it's a main branch leaf on one of my plants, it's generally gone when there's just over half in above it, 3/4 inch below it, or rather more importantly, when there is sufficient leaf matter from the internode to take over the photosynthesis from the missing leaf . . . .

The plant goes into a sort of panic mode and fires all sorts of things to the damaged site;

"but wait...." says the mental stuff the plant sends to the site . . .

the leaf is no longer there, oh well, no point in going back to where we came from, lets boost the area here and help the internode instead, no point in wasting that energy for repair of a leaf that just aint there . . ."

This was an actual conversation I heard between some amino acid gangs in the plant the oher day, I'm sure of it!! lmfao!!!

That's how I have witnessed it within hours sometimes, internodes doubled in size!!!

CAN NOT WAIT TO GET A CAMERA TO SHOW YOU GREEN HAND GANGS :)

Honestly, try it, I dare you to remove the remaining main fan leaves, 1 a day, 1st thing in the morning, see what happens to the internodes :) . . . .ah go on . . . .p p p please . . . .

Its been topped already. View attachment 3425853 That was after the first topping (about 8 days ago). Yesterday i topped it 2 more times.

As far as the defoliation, its an experiment and as i stated ive heard people who swear by it, and people who hate it. I wanted to see for myself and hear others opinions on the subject. Appreciate your comments bro!

Ok,,,,more people who don't understand plant science have chimed in on the bennie's of defoliation (LOL)....

Lets me say this one more time.....read this!!

https://www.rollitup.org/t/light.853779/

PLEASE read it! Read the link RM gave in the first post too!!!
You will find in pics and in the first 3-4 pages of the thread what you are loosing by defoliation and that the plant is the sum of it's whole.....The more you remove......the less you get overall!!!

Bury'em deep and in a "full" pot!!!

Now before you complain that I didn't supply the answer and I only gave a "link".......That link says it easier and better then I could in 2 complete pages of writing.....I don't have the time to do that.......They have done it for all of us...READ IT AND LEARN A FEW THINGS!!!!!

But I've found if leaves are removed before they become a whole established part of the plant, the energy available to grow the missing leaf and the repair mechanisms the plants have, put the inter node site into over drive, in most hybrid strains I've toyed with . . . . .

I don't remove leaves to get more light to the sites under the leaves, I do it to promote the inter node where the missing leaf was.

No need to hurt your plants. When she's ready to lose a leave shell let you know. I never understood the while lollipop/ defoliate thing. Proper hps will penetrate up to 3foot. Below the plant. Proper nutrition and environment is a MUCH bigger factor in rock hard nugs. I take a few clones off the bottum in and top inVeg and then straight to 12/12. And always get rock hard dockey dixk colas !

I wouldn't even be able to water my plants, If I didn't clean up/lollipop the bottoms.
But then again, I can't stand it when Lollipopping gets put with defoliating. Two different things, IMO :-D
Thats exactly my thoughts too. By no means am i taking off lowers to actually think I'm gaining yield or now all the focus is on the uppers. Being clean down there is important in a lot of cases.

Ok, so I've found a way to use my phone and to upload images with out incriminating myself.

Been a hard day for me, so I'll get snapping in the morning. And set up the side by side :)

Night all, it's 1920 . . . . . I'm beat n it's time to eat . . . . . n draw :bigjoint:

Actually, screw it, I'll take a test snap shot of my Critical Cheese Auto (defoliated) to see how easy it's gonna be to document a side by side with a VPN on my Windows Phone . . .should be fun to try . . . .

Next post, a test image of CChAuto
