Help choosing an LED replacement for 1000HPS?

When I go over 80f canopy temp I notice the flavors and frosting change in my favorite cuttings (for the worse). The SSSDH takes an extra week or two to finish with those conditions and even then not a clean finish (immature calyxs and pistils) and the buds are looser.

According the the PPFD/temp chart rate of photosynthesis increase by 20-25% by boosting your temps from 77f to 86f. But does that translate to 25% more medicine? I suspect not, especially when you factor in the slower finishing time. My 2 cents anyway..

hey bud i understand where your coming at and trust me i am a good guy but looks like you got something more going on ... its like anything else takes a couple of runs to get things dialed in i mean with more heat . co2 also comes more water uptake nutrient uptake in your case please do not take this wrong either not enough nutrients , or to much nutrients, not big enough pot ,, or ph / medium issues possibly root temps
But once you get things coming together no shit man you will see faster everything including finishing times for instance ppp plant usually 64 - 67 days days i have finished her 48 - 54 days those above pics i posted 48 day chop vegged 2 weeks from clone and flipped just had extras so threw them in 5 gallon totes :)

The hotter the room/canopy temperatures, the fluffier my buds have become in the past.

Are those gals under siege from the Armada? ;)

I would much rather have them finish hungry than finish green, but I agree that particular lady was in too small of a pot that run and ate its own fan leaves. Anyway, that is only one example I have seen it many times on many different cuttings. Some handle the heat better than others. Way back when I switched from a small LED to large (bare) HPS setup it was like I had different cuttings, lost much of their flavor and not finishing nearly as frosty or as fast. My CO2 ranges between 700-1500 with no supplementation, depending on how recently I ventilated.

Eventually I figured out it was due to canopy heat and since swapping out all my HPS for LED and getting canopy temps back where they were, all that foxtailing and fluffiness is gone and the flavor and color has returned. I like your method of running the temps down in the final weeks.

In the first set of pics that tent was 600W HPS X 2. The second set of pics the ladies were in the drying room, but before that yes they were getting an early version of the armada treatment.

So what you are saying is with canopy temps in check you get smaller but tighter nugs with resin gooping off of them like contact cement rather than crispy fried over heated turpene evaporated hps bud?

Hey guys I'm a long time lurker and first time poster here!

I've spent hours scouring the Internet and this forum looking for an answer to my question.

I'm currently using a 1000HPS in my 4 x 4 grow tent and I'm looking to replace it with a high quality LED grow light. I've found loads of different lights and all of them promising the best, although I've come to realize that they will say and promise just about anything to sell you their lights!

So after days of research I've managed to narrow it down to a few manufacturers. In no specific order these are the ones I've shortlisted.

Hydrogrow LED Extreme series 336X Pro - $1799

http://www.hydrogrowled.com/336X-PRO---500W-LED-Grow-Light-P87C60.aspx

Black Dog Platinum XL-U - $1999

https://www.blackdogled.com/products/universal-series/platinum-xl-u-11.html

Advanced LED DS XML 650 - $1595

New Age LED Mega 600 - $975

http://www.mvphydroponics.com

From these options and your knowledge and experience which LED do you think would make a better replacement for my 1000HPS? Also if you have a better suggestion please fire away! My budget can go up to $2k if the light is good enough.

Thanks guys!

So I've seen that a lot of manufacturers don't ship to SA but Optic does.

I emailed Hans about his LED panels cos they also look good and I've seen good results from his lights. He suggested 4 panels for my grow room and will ship to SA.

Guys just a quick question, will the Vero and Cree COB be suitable for a whole growth from seed to flower?

My apologies if my knowledge of COB or LED is not as astute as yours! Isn't that why people write in this forum to learn and chat to other people? Before posting this thread my knowledge of LED was very little but has since has greatly improved thanks to the various members who have posted on here, and I'm aware that I've still got a lot more to learn!

I've have come to learn that my original 4 LED that I asked about are not good choices and that I should look at either COB or DIY. I am now looking at the DIY route hence my question. If you think my question is not a good one remember that at one time you were in a similar position that am now.

To the members that have posted in here sharing your thoughts and knowledge on LED I thank you.
