Regarding your question from the other thread, yes I have grown both synthetic and organic. I first started growing back in '81 so I've grown all different kinds of ways. Organics is by far superior to any other method and if anyone says that synthetic is just as good then they haven't truly smoked 100% living organics. The aroma and flavor is on a different level, now when I say that I mean properly grown organic herb. I don't consider bottled organic nutes to be what I'm referring to. What I'm referring to is plants grown in a true living soil, feed by the microbes in the soil. There is nothing wrong with organic bottled nutes if that's your thing, you will just get a much more quality product growing in a living soil than bottles. It definitely has a learning curve and I think that turns some people off, but once you pull off your first true organic grow you will never look back. Peace. P.S. I missed the part about your being in my neck of the woods. Work? Do you actually have to do that 30-mile bridge every time?

Oh, damned computer locked up. When it does that, I fear that I'm being watched by big brother. Because it will slloowww down to where I can't even move then it will take off, like now. The letters are keeping up as I type instead of dragging 4-5 words behind. I try to check my 'users" and such and close anything that can be looked at by a techy big brother. I'm just being paranoid, because big brother is not going to waste tax dollars on 4 small plants. I mean, how do you brag to your peers about that! When detective so and so managed to get 40 pounds in a car on I-10 at a random traffic stop.

Growers will put a green light in the flowering room so if they need to go in during the dark period it has no effect on the plants. I don't know why he's telling you plants need a green spectrum to flower, it has zero effect on plants, this is why growers put a green bulb in the flowering room.

I wonder why he told me that plants in flower need blue light spectrum when he sold me a light with more greens and yellows? It says "full spectrum insures proper development and maximum flowering" I guess it's got the full spectrum, I was just reading that is peaks at yellow on the graph.

Is it okay to trim a few of the fan leaves while they're in flower? I need to get some of those BIG ones so that the ones on the stem get light. Will it stunt them? I'm only talking a few.

Blue, yellow, Orange, red spectrum are all good, not green. Instead of cutting off nice healthy green leaves, what I do is I'll just push them down and tuck them under a branch or something. That way you can get them out the way and keep from cutting off. Leaves are very important.

I read so many different answers on this subject and I find it strange that this didn't get more of a response considering the subject matter. I went ahead and snipped a few, like 3 off a couple of the plants. The minute I did and looked at them, I felt I did good, but when I bent the fan leaf over and cracked it to sniff that wonderful aroma, I felt guilty that I didn't let it stay with the rest of the family. I won't snip anymore even tho I really feel like I should.

I just took a coupla pics. See what I mean about the fan leaves? Although you can't tell it from this angle but they're about 18" to 2 feet tall with all that wild-looking fan leaf business going on.

Is this normal? At least they are a far cry from Christmas tree shape!

I'm not flowering! Are they too cold?
I'm week two (and two days) in flower and the only change I've seen is the growth. They've doubled in size but I don't see any hairs or buds. I'm afraid I'm keeping them too cool. Could that be the cause? I'm in the south and we are using the A/C every day and the girls are in the room with me. We keep it at 72 degrees even tho I usually close my vent because I don't like the cold. Matter of fact, when they turn it down even lower at night, I turn on my space heater. In any event, I keep a window cracked right next to them so they get some of the warm, humid air and keep a small fan on them constantly. I feel the heat coming out the top and sides of the grow room, but just barely warm. When I put my hand under the lamps, they are warm but not hot. Should I turn the fan off and on instead of keeping it on them all the time?

Just realized it's photo op time. I'm at 6 weeks. Look at the growth in two weeks and Fox Farm stuff, including bio marine and bat guano x 2 (oops) and Big Bloom but they've only had those since Saturday or three days. If I had been using this the whole time, I'd be much further ahead because they have actually shot up 6 inches since Saturday. Should I top off that 6 inches to make it stop growing up and start growing out again? I can't find the pic of my other Pure Power Plant, I know I took it. It's too late now, they're all bundled up and asleep.

My phone camera does not do these girls justice. They really are nice and full but look spindly in the pics from this angle!

Sealing your for grow is essential to have a proper dark time for your babes (no kidding, everyone goes on about this for a reason) and also to help with stealth (smell, sound, suspicious light)

Oh, they smell alright, but no longer have to slealth. They knew about it all along. I wish I would have known so I wouldn't have gone thru all this for nothing. But I promised that I would have them finished and in oil in two weeks. I went out and bought that huge light and that fox farm stuff and I may be able to pull it off in a month. I"m just going to have to say that in order for me to finish in two weeks, it would have cost too much money and I'm trying to save to get my car out of the shop. I paid another $100 on it Saturday. Now I owe $360 but I'm getting there.

The fan leaves are to show you what the heck I'm dealing with with all these fan leaves. There are too many and they are blocking the light from my small leaves. Once I cut them off, my other leaves took off like a rocket. I have one plant that I cut waaay back, all the fan leaves about 3 weeks ago and it's finally coming back and FAT!. There is literally no stem room at all, it's fan leaf after fan leaf.

I know, I have 40-year old virgins going on for sure because all they want to do is veg more. I tried to cover them up totally, even put an huge robe on top of them and decided to put the small fan inside the grow space, but there's no light getting in now.

get some two x fours and some screws. build a frame and line with panda film (black/white sided thin plastic). it'll cost you $70-90 maybe, cheaper than a grow tent, and it will be the best money you ever spend on taking care of your indoor plants. environmental control is where it starts.

you do know you are 2 months away from harvest/dry bud even if you get them 12 hours dark religiously from today right??? the only yield you can have in 2 weeks is leaves for juicing...

I do have access to all the materials I need come to think of it. There's actually two large shops on the property and one of them has a lathe and electric saws and nails and hammers and saw horses, etc. Out back, I do believe there are leftover 2 x 4s from building the second shop. Hell, what I might do after the niece has her 21 birthday pool party out back this weekend is just take the grow to the shop. No, I'd rather have them in here so I can watch them. Plus they would get waaaay too hot out there. It's 90 degrees here already.

Those healthy green leaves should have never been cut off. That's where your plant gets all it's energy from. I don't understand why you cut them off, your plants aren't even flowering yet. The biggest mistake noobs make is over caring for their plants.

Yes, I think you're right. But I only snipped those 3--dang! I know I'm guilty of that big time. The main reason why is because they are in my face all day. I see them constantly. It's their bedtime in 30 minutes and I'm going to spend 20 minutes making sure they are completely covered and in the dark. That's probably why they are still acting like they are in veg. after three weeks! It's okay a little because they grew another 6-8 inches but if this is half their size, I'm in trouble. My grow space is only 4 feet tall and they are 2 plus already. I'll let them do their thing from now on, promise.

Is it normal to count 17 bud sites on a plant? I think that's what i see. So, since I have made absolute sure three (3) days ago that there was no way any light could get to them, they have actually starting budding. It's about time. To make sure that's what I see, I'm going to take a photo. It's only one plant out of 4 that looks like that so that's what it's got to be. Does 17 bud sites mean 17 colas? How does that work? Does it start budding from the tip down or from the stem out?
I just posted two pics. Do these look like buds? I don't have a magnifying glass and am trying to eyeball it. I have 17 of these on one of the Pure Power Plants.

Would somebody please read my previous post? I have a couple of questions.

Here I am all excited thinking I have buds and no one will look at my pics and tell me that's what I'm seeing. Also, are the bud sites at the tips of my branches going to turn unto colas or just a bud on the end? In other words, will the 17 bud sites I counted turn into colas? Wouldn't that be awesome!
